2 day E-Conference On “Tourism the Sunrise Industry-Unlocking 2021”
The Department of Tourism and Hospitality, St.Philomena’s College, Mysuru had organized a two-day e-conference on 8th and 9th October 2020 on the theme-“Tourism the Sunrise Industry-Unlocking 2021.”
The Welcome address was delivered by Mr.Paul Iruthayaraj, HOD,Department of Tourism and Hospitality, St.Philomena’s College.
The e-conference was inaugurated by Rev. Dr. Bernard Prakash Barnis,Rector and Dr. Ruth Shanthakumari,Principal, St.Philomena’s College,Mysuru.
Rev. Dr. Bernard Prakash Barnis in his speech stressed on the importance of tourism day celebrations.
Dr. Ruth Shantha kumari spoke on this year’s Global theme- Tourism and Rural Development and its importance. She emphasized on career opportunities in tourism industry. She was optimistic that despite the industry being hard hit by the pandemic, it would soon revive and contribute to the economy.
Many eminent speakers from different countries participated in the two-day e-conference and spoke about career opportunities in various sectors of the tourism industry.

Dr. Souji Gopalakrishan Pillai, Associate Scholar& Scientist, Florida University,U.S.A, Dr. Erdogan Ekiz, Prrofessror, School of Hospitality Business and Management, Morocco, Dr. Ruth Sabina Francis,Programme Director,School of Hospitality, Tourism and Events,Taylor’s University, Malaysia, Mr. Poruri Gopal, HR and Hotel Management Consultant, Canada and Ms. Sanjana Muddapa, Destination specialist, Celebrity cruises, U.S.A.
The speakers spoke about various job opportunities in different domains of the tourism industry.
The e-conference was attended by around 300 participants from across the globe.
The e-conference was concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Rini Brown, Asst. Professor, Department of Tourism and Hospitality, St.Philomena’s College.
