5th CONVOCATION DAY
St. Philomena’s college organised its 5th convocation ceremony on September 27, 2019 at college indoor stadium. A total of 9 Under-Graduate and 10 Post-Graduate students were honoured with stream-wise Gold Medals and 24 Under-Graduates with gold Medals based on their subjects.
The meritorious students who secured highest marks in Arts, Science, Commerce and Post-Graduation streams were Someshwari Paromita Rhidi(85.59%), Sophia F.(88.17%), AfshaanAhmed(89.58%) and Vishwas M. S. (86.84%) respectively. These students were awarded prestigious cash awards in the name of Sir T. R. A. Thumboochetty.
The chief Guest, Prof. G Hemanth Kumar, Vice Chancellor of University of Mysore addressed the gathering.“I would advise the young graduates to enhance their qualifications through computer technology” he said While delivering the convocation speech. He suggested students to face the challenges not to run away from it. He advised students, “Rise above the distinction of color, caste, creed, language and region” as our ancient philosophers have emphasized the importance of treating the world as one family.
His Excellency Most Rev. Dr K. A. William, Bishop of Mysuru in his presidential address quoted English saying “Tell me who your friends are, and I will tell you who you are” and told the value of friendship as “Good friends make good person”. He also suggested that the country needs common good and growth of the society.
A total of 318 UG and 185 PG students were awarded with the certificates. Msgr. Rev. Leslie Moras, the Episcopal Vicar of Educational Institutions and the Health Care Management (MDES), Rev. Fr. Bernard Prakash Barnis, Rector/ Manager, Dr Ruth Shantha Kumari, Principal and Orthbert Pinto, Director of PG and Dr. Alphonsus D’Souza, Controller of Examinations were present on the dais.
