Topic: Technology Driven Resilient Education in the era of AI Tools
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Sundar KS, Associate Vice President & Head, IMS Academy, Infosys, Mysore. He began his speech by reminiscing about his childhood and lauding Philos for their efforts in organizing the FDP. He then highlighted the significance of understanding the changes occurring in three dimensions: work, workplace, and workforce.
Change in Work: Dr. Sundar discussed the evolving nature of work, noting that today’s problems are often unidentified. He highlighted that modern students are expected to be business transformation partners, possessing multidimensional capabilities.Dr. Sundar pointed out that teachers act as facilitators of data and information, but students need contextualized knowledge and skills to solve real-world problems. He also discussed the shift from a human-centric approach to a machine-centric approach due to AI, which has reduced mundane efforts but raised existential questions about the future of skills. He encouraged educators to be change agents and move from order-taking to business transformation.
Change in Workplace: Dr. Sundar spoke about the changes in the workplace, noting the rise of remote work and the norm of hybrid work. He underscored the necessity of strong communication skills and the importance of grooming youngsters to work remotely with the required skills.
Change in Workforce: Dr. Sundar addressed the diversification of the workforce, highlighting that teams now consist of members from across the globe, bringing different styles, cultures, and communication methods. He stressed the responsibility of teachers in producing global citizens and fostering a teamwork attitude.
Dr. Sundar also discussed the changing educational landscape in the millennial era:
- Addressing the challenge of consistency and the need for accessible online learning.
- Promoting microlearning or byte learning, which offers fast learning through small capsules of information.
- Shifting learning from a push model to a pull model by motivating students to learn and gamifying the learning process.
He encouraged educators to embrace Generative AI and large language models (LLMs) as tools for creating content and teaching. He advised educators to become AI-first educators, good prompt engineers, and proficient content creators using AI.
Dr. Sundar concluded his address by urging educators to be passionate about their work, adapt to change, and avoid becoming outdated, likening it to avoiding becoming a “dinosaur.”

Keynote Speaker: Prof. Prahallada NN., Former Professor of Education, Regional
Institute of Education, Mysore
Topic: Teaching Pedagogical Strategies
Prof. Prahallada began by emphasizing the importance of FDPs in improving research orientation. Quoting Socrates, he stated, “There is only one good, knowledge, and only one evil, ignorance.” He highlighted the difference between knowledge and information, noting that processed information becomes knowledge, and further processed knowledge turns into wisdom, which comes with age and experience.
He advised educators to “ink think but do not blink,” stressing the importance of deliberate action in teaching. He discussed the role of education policies in ensuring standard and quality, referencing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which focuses on access, equity, quality, affordability, and accountability.
Prof. Prahallada introduced the concept of Artificial Intelligence (AI), coined by John McCarthy, and explained resilience as the ability to bounce back from setbacks. He outlined various pedagogical strategies such as heutagogy (self-directed learning), andragogy (adult learning), and geragogy (elderly learning). He emphasized that advanced pedagogy is necessary to enhance student performance, promote professional teacher growth, and create a supportive learning environment.
Prof. Prahallada highlighted the importance of making teaching meaningful through activity-based strategies that engage students. He explained that the modern role of a teacher is as a learning facilitator, guiding students through a tension reduction process.
After a tea break at 03:00 pm, the second session resumed at 03:15 pm with Prof. Prahallada continuing his discussion on pedagogical strategies. He differentiated between attitude and aptitude and introduced Gagne’s theory, which is a teacher-centred approach and contrasted this with Bruner’s theory of constructivism, which is a student-centred approach that views learners as active social agents. He also discussed collaborative learning, blended learning, and critical pedagogy, emphasizing their importance in modern education.
The session concluded with a discussion allowing participants to share their thoughts and ask questions.

He explained that design thinking encourages creativity and innovation, helping educators to develop more effective teaching strategies and create a more engaging learning environment.
Dr. Gandhi also discussed the role of ‘trigger questions’ in stimulating critical thinking and engagement among students. He explained that asking thought-provoking questions helps students to analyze, interpret, and evaluate information, thereby deepening their understanding of the subject matter. For example, instead of asking students to memorize facts, educators could ask questions that encourage them to explore the implications and applications of those facts.Throughout the session, Dr. Gandhi provided examples of how design thinking and trigger questions can be applied in the classroom. He shared case studies of successful implementations and highlighted the positive impact on student engagement and learning outcomes.
Dr. Gandhi also emphasized the importance of integrating technology into teaching. He highlighted the use of Moodle, a learning management system, to enhance the learning experience. He explained that Moodle allows educators to create and manage courses, provide resources, and facilitate communication with students. Dr. Gandhi shared tips on how to effectively use Moodle to support various teaching activities, such as creating online quizzes, organizing discussion forums, and tracking student progress.
After a tea break, the second session resumed with Dr. Gandhi continuing his discussion on personal and professional development. He delved deeper into the practical aspects of implementing design thinking in education. He encouraged educators to adopt a user-centric approach, focusing on the needs and experiences of their students.
He also highlighted the importance of providing timely and constructive feedback to students through Moodle, helping them to reflect on their progress and identify areas for improvement.
The session concluded with a discussion period, allowing participants to share their experiences and ask questions. Dr. Gandhi encouraged educators to embrace continuous learning and development.

Dr.Hanumanthachar emphasized that patents grant exclusive rights to inventors, preventing others from making, using, or selling their invention without permission. He highlighted that patents do not confer a right to use the invention but rather a right to exclude others from using it, typically lasting 20 years from the filing date.
Dr.Hanumanthachar discussed how patent laws are designed to protect inventions and stimulate innovation by rewarding inventors with exclusive rights. He underscored the importance of sufficient disclosure of inventions in exchange for protection under these laws.
Regarding the patent application process, Dr.Hanumanthachar explained that it involves submitting a detailed application to the appropriate patent office, disclosing the technical details and novelty of the invention compared to existing knowledge. He outlined the procedural steps, including formal examination, substantive examination, and potential opposition procedures.
In terms of documentation required for patent applications, Dr.Hanumanthachar noted that applicants must provide a detailed description of the invention, claims defining the scope of protection sought, drawings where applicable, and fulfill any necessary fees and forms.
Addressing the importance of patent documents, Dr.Hanumanthachar explained that these contain critical information such as bibliographic details, technical specifications, and legal claims. They serve as foundational resources for asserting rights, licensing agreements, and ensuring compliance with patent laws.
Discussing the legislative framework in India, Dr.Hanumanthachar pointed out that the Patents Act and associated regulations govern patent protection. He mentioned that amendments over the years have refined criteria for patentability, procedural requirements, and obligations under international agreements such as TRIPs.
In conclusion, Dr.Hanumanthachar highlighted the scope of patentability under the Patents Act, stressing that inventions must meet criteria including novelty, inventive step, and industrial applicability to qualify for protection.
