CONDOLENCE MESSAGE
The Management, Staff and Students of St. Philomena’s College deeply mourn the demise of Prof. Mary Punidavalli, HOD, English department of our College. Over the last few months, she was under treatment for illness, and her soul departed around 10:30 p.m. on 24th May 2021.
With insight, energy and utmost commitment to teaching, she served the institution for 28 years. Though she lived her life for just 52 years but lived a very prayerful, unassuming life, in simplicity and much commitment to work.
Prof. Mary Punidavalli was born on 20th August 1969. She entered St.Philomena’s college in 1988 as a student and rendered 33 years of selfless service in various capacities ; as a student for 5 years, as a faculty member for 22 years and as the Head of the Department of English for 6 years. Prof. Punidavalli was a dedicated teacher with excellent teaching talent. She was humble and down-to-earth in her approach to all and relentlessly worked for the betterment of the institution. Her passion and dedication to the subject and her work has been inspiring to many.
Through her journey for almost three decades, Prof. Punidavalli not only counselled students but also helped many faculty members on various issues. Her health issues never deterred her and she worked with zeal to give the best to the students. Being cooperative, helpful, kind-hearted, diligent, simple and respectful to everyone are a few qualities intrinsic to Prof. Punidavalli.
As Head of one of the biggest departments in college, Prof. Punidavalli effortlessly managed all English faculty members, while giving each one of them sufficient opportunities to grow personally. She was also a quiet worker. She did not care much for the designations but when it came to offering help, she was always ready. On her sudden death we have lost an esteemed colleague and a wonderful human being. The college will always remember Prof. Punidavalli for her contributions in the field of teaching and her association with everyone. All who knew her will miss her cheery smile very much.
