National Level Weekly Lecture series
Under the guidance of Dr. Poornima Umesh, HOD of Hindi dept, St. Philomenas College, Mysore, the Philo Hindi club carried out the “National level weekly Lecture series from 8th July to 29th july 2021
The 1st session of the National weekly Hindi lecture series on 8th July, 2021 via google meet and YouTube live.Hosted with the support of the college staff and students, the lecture was conducted by the chief speaker- Narendra Singh Nihar. He is the Subject Expert, author and Head of the Hindi department in Rajakiya Uccha Madyamik Vidhyalay, New Delhi.
The lecture was based on a patriotic sense conveyed through Hindi poetry. Narendra Singh Nihar quoted several prominent poets ranging from the ancient to modern Hindi literature such as Jayshankar Prasad, Suryakant Tripati Nirala, Shivmangal Singh Suman, Dushyant Kumar and Bharthedu Babu Harishchandra along with Munshi Premchand’s literary works. The session was aimed at arousing a sense of nationalism towards our country by analyzing the contributions found in Hindi literature. His lecture was succeeded by a lot of captivating questions asked by the participants which led to an informative discussion. Being the first among the four sessions, the lecture by Narendra Singh Nihar served justice to this national weekly Hindi lecture series.
The 2nd session of the National weekly Hindi lecture Series on 15th July online on YouTube love and Google Meet. The students and the staff held the session with the chief speaker – Dr. Ravi Sharma, who is an associate professor, also the hear of hindi Department of Sri Ram College, Delhi University. The session started with Dr.poornima Umesh’s Sarawaswati Vandana , followed by Dr. Ravi sharma’s informative session. His immense knowledge about the chayawadi era definitely enlightened the diverse audience. He also talked about the variety of specialities of the literary works of the poets like Suryakant Tripathi Nirala, Mahadevi Verma, Sumitra Nandan Panth, Jayshakar Prasad.At the end there was an interactive session between the students online. The over-all session was to acknowledge people more about the chayavadi era and how hindi poems have unique description of nature in them.
The 3rd session lecture, was presided by the chief speaker – Dr. Vinod Singh Chauhan ‘Prasoon’. He is a recognized hindi subject expert and author, a resource person of the BBSE-COE, as well as the Head of the Hindi Department of Delhi Public School, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The lecture was conducted on an hour’s timeframe, encompassing several broad aspects of hindi poetry and its emotional elements. The primary idea conveyed through this lecture was the cultural and sympathetic significance of Hindi poems. The mention of various ancient and modern hindi poets such as – Sant Kabir, Raidas, Nagarjun, and Makhanlal Chaturvedi, highlighted the factors of importance and appreciated creativity as well as inspiration represented through the art of hindi poetry. The lecture was followed by an interactive Question and Answer session engaged by the students of St. Philomena’s College and other participants online.The overall session was a joint effort at viewing Hindi texts through a poet’s perspective that enlightened enthusiasts from all around the nation.
The 4th session was lead by Dr. Lata Chauhan, the Secretary, Gyan kiran Hindi Sansthan, Bangalore University, Bangalore as a guest speaker. She delivered her speech on ‘Gopaldas Neeraj’ and ‘Dushyant Kumar’s gazal. pointed out that ghazals have not been appreciated in Literature so there is a need for more research on these topics. After the question and answer session, the program went on to the valedictory.
The valedictory function was held at the conference hall with all the dignitaries and the chief guest of the programme – Prof MC Prabha, Rector/ Manager, Dr. Barnard Prakash Barnis, Vice Rector – Fr. Maria Xavier sunil, Campus Administrator – Fr. John Paul, Principal – Dr. Alphonsus D’souza, Vice Principal – Dr. Vidhyadhar Sanjay Nair, PG Director – Othberth Pinto, IQAC coordinator -Prakash Cutihna. The programme was initiated by Prayer Song, followed by a welcome speech. The whole report of the National Level Weekly Lecture Series was delivered by students. The Book by Dr. Poornima on “Sri Narendra Singh Nihar ka carona kaleen sahitya: sandarbh evam vimarsh”), was released among the gathering. The cheif guest informed that this book is written in context with social, political, educational, psychological effects of Carona. The principal at his presidential speech congratulated all the participants for their active participation. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Poornima A.P HOD, Department of Hindi.
