VISIT TO ANATOMY CENTER, JSS MEDICAL COLLEGE, MYSORE
On the 6th of July, 2022, the Department of Psychology organized a field visit to the Anatomy center of the JSS Medical College, Mysore for all the students of Psychology, as part of experiential learning. The field visit was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Ginson George, Assistant Professor and HoD of the Department of Psychology and Ms. Nandita Rao, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology. The purpose of the visit was to enable students to gain knowledge through the observation of human anatomy specimens, especially the brain specimens.
The Anatomy center housed various organs such as heart, lungs, kidney, etc. along with various cross- sections of brain and spinal cord. The students also had the opportunity to observe the skeletal systems and the different developmental stages of infant in the womb. The center displayed specimens of various medical conditions. This enabled the students to clearly understand the differences in structure of healthy and unhealthy organs and thereby the possible consequences that could follow.
The visit allowed the students to better visualize the inner structures and functioning of the body which further grounded their knowledge about the body and brain systems they study as part of the curriculum.
