Industrial Visit to JK TYRE & Industries Ltd & Student Exchange Programme
On 26-07-2024 Department of Studies and Research in Social work, St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous) Mysore and St. Joseph’s College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Cuddalore, Tamilnadu visited JK Tyre & Industries Ltd. Mysore as a part of student exchange and Industrial visit programme. Visit was coordinated by Mrs. Shirley Anthony and Mr. K J Robin faculties of St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous) Mysore and Mr. Durairaj and Mrs. M Perkish Salomina faculties of St. Joseph’s College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Cuddalore.
During the visit Mr. Ravindra, the Industrial Relations (IR) Manager at JK Tyre, provided with a brief introduction about the company. Thereafter the trainees attended the orientation class. The orientation class was conducted by Mr. Nagaraj, provided an in-depth overview of JK Tyre’s history, organization profile and about Employee welfare and CSR initiatives done by JK Tyre. Further he informed about the various branches and plants of JK Tyre across the globe. Mr. Ravindra highlighted about the significance of HR work in the industry, emphasizing its critical role in fostering a productive and harmonious work environment. He shared his experiences in HR, providing valuable insights into the challenges and rewards of managing industrial relations. He also discussed the various HR functions at JK Tyre, including employee engagement, performance management, and compliance with labour laws and CSR activities. After orientation class social work trainee visited production plant. The trainee observed several key stages in the tyre making process at the production department of JK Tyre. The production department is pivotal in transforming raw materials into finished tyres. The process begins with the preparation of rubber compounds, which are then molded into various components. The day ended well filled with knowledge and experiential learning.
