The Undergraduate Department of Commerce at St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous), Mysore, successfully organized a guest lecture on 13th February 2025 at 11:30 AM in the college auditorium. The event commenced with a warm welcome by Ms. Sheeba Asima, a final-year M.Com student, who effectively hosted the program, setting an engaging tone for the session. This was followed by an introductory speech by Ms. Kavitha R., Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, who eloquently introduced the guest speaker, Dr. Usha C., highlighting her vast expertise and academic contributions in the field of commerce and business studies.
The lecture was coordinated by Ms. Amreen Kousar, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, who ensured the smooth flow of the session. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Reena Francis, Dean and Head of the Department of Commerce, along with other faculty members, reinforcing the academic importance of the session. The lecture witnessed an enthusiastic participation of around 140 students from the final year and second year B.Com courses, reflecting the keen interest of students in gaining additional knowledge beyond their curriculum.
Dr. Usha C. delivered an insightful address on the topic “Union Budget 2025”, discussing its key highlights, implications on various sectors, and the overall economic impact. She provided a detailed analysis of fiscal policies, taxation reforms, and government expenditures, helping students understand the significance of budgetary decisions on the economy. She also emphasized the importance of analytical thinking, problem-solving, and staying updated with current financial trends. The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating by asking insightful questions and engaging in meaningful discussions, making the session more enriching and dynamic.
Towards the conclusion of the program, Ms. Sweedal, a final-year B.Com student, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the guest speaker for sharing her valuable knowledge, the faculty members for their support in organizing the event, and the students for their enthusiastic participation.
