
Extension Activity-Don Bosco Makkalalaya

The Department of Sociology & Christianity organized an Extension activity at Don Bosco Makkalalaya located in Hale Kesare, Mysuru on 13 January 2023.
Don Bosco Makkalalaya (Mysore) is a community-oriented program of the Mysore Don Bosco Society for Child Labourers, School Dropouts and Unemployed Youth. It is based on the ‘Education for All’ Policy of UNESCO, the Right to Education Act (RTE) of the Government of India, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN and the Educational System of Don Bosco, offering – Education, Skill Training, Job Placement and a Career. The main motto of this NGO is to Reach the unreached to make a holistic society by empowering the young, engage with us to make
a difference and make the world a better place. The project includes a short–stay-home for urban deprived children between 6–14-year, 15 Foundation Schools in 10 slums for 500 children, 5 Bridge Schools in 5 slums for 100 children, Direct SSLC, Direct II PUC, and Don Bosco Tech for skill training and job placement. together tomake the world a

- To expose the students about the social work of Don Bosco Makkalalaya
- To Interact with the students and staff members of Don Bosco Makkalalaya
- To create awareness on the importance of education and wellbeing throughdifferent activities.
Reaching
Brief Report on the visit:
The department of Sociology & Christianity along with the students and faculties organized an extension activity at Don Bosco Makkalalaya on Jan 13, 20232 at 2.30 pm. The team was heartily welcomed by the Institute trainer. The team manager oriented about the social cause of the Don Bosco institution.
Firstly, the team was given introduction about Don Bosco Makkalalaya its vision ,mission and different activities undertaken was presented by one of the staff members, he stressed on the need and various strategies designed by the NGO to work for the social cause. After the brief introduction of the NGO, our students took over the programme it was started with a beautiful song by Nitish and group which expressed how to beautiful life is and the best way to achieve our desired goals.


Later the students conducted quiz related to Indian society the inmates of Don Bosco very enthusiastically participated in the event and winners were given a Smilie badge.
The students brought colours to the whole programme they sang songs; group dance and the main attraction was myme which portrayed the negative consequences of phone addiction.


The students dance and music brought cheerful on the faces of students, they enjoyed the programmes. Some of the Don Bosco students also show cased their talents. Over all the extension activity was very interactive and fruitful. Students thanked our vote for initiating this programme and they expressed that COVID- 19 pandemic had stopped all such activities and requested our team to visit them frequently.
