
Report on student’s participation in Voluntary Blood Donation Camp

Donating blood is an act of Solidarity Join the efforts and save Lives
Twenty-one students from the department of Sociology participated in Voluntary Blood Donation Camp which was organized in General Hospital, Srirangapatana as a part of World Blood Donors Day on June 14, 2022. The progamme was inaugurated at 10.00 am.


The Taluk Health Officer addressed the gathering regarding the importance of Blood Donation. He told the audience that the donated blood would be used for saving the lives of the injured and the sick. One of the doctors also addressed the audience saying that the blood donation does not weaken the donators. The recovery takes place very soon. He talked about facts/ myths/ Blood Groups related information. The camp was well organized Hygiene and sanitization including Covid-19 safety measures was taken. Nearly 25 beds were arranged for the blood donation with sufficient doctors, Nurses and Lab Technical Officer. Initially student’s details, their health checkup was done and those who were eligible to donate were taken to the bed with blood collecting bags. Students were very enthusiastic to donate their blood for the novel cause. After the donation the donors were given refreshment and were instructed to take rest. Once the procedures were completed the students received their certificates. This indeed was a great exposure for the students, they visited and learnt how the government hospital functions and they felt happy and proud to be part of this great initiative. The students returned back to college around 3.30 pm and most of the students expressed that they have decided to donate blood in future also and shared that it was a memorable day for them and thanked the department for taking initiative and motivating the students to join their hands for this novel cause.
