Generative AI and Deep Learning: TheEngines Behind Tomorrow’s Innovation
A one-day seminar focusing on Generative AI and Deep Learning was successfully organized by the UG Department of Computer Science on September 25, 2025. The event was designed to be comprehensive, featuring a formal inauguration, a deep technical lecture, and practical hands-on activitiesthe event saw active participation from students and staff from both UG and PG Computer Science, and the overall objective was met with positive feedback.
The event commenced at 10:30 AM with the Formal Inauguration, The ceremony included an Invocation by Mr. Joshua, V Sem B.Sc. and team at 10:35 AM, a Welcome Address by Bill Rish of 3rd semester B.Sc. at 10:40 AM, and the ceremonial Watering of the Sapling at10:45 AM in the gracious presence of PrincipalDr.Ravi JD saldanha.
The inauguration was professional and encouraging, setting a good, optimistic start with useful speeches and a nice opening song.
The Master of ceremony for the day was BiBi Ayesha of 3rd semester B.Sc. The Resource person of the day was introduced by Jeevitha Esther of 1st semester B.Sc.

The core lecture began at 11:00 AM with the Resource PersonMrs.Rekha M taking the stage. The session focused on the fundamentals and advanced concepts of Generative AI and Deep Learning, covering key topics and future scope.


The session paused for a LUNCH BREAK from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM.The afternoon session was dedicated to practical learning and concluding formalities.Beginning at 1:30 PM, participants engaged in Hands-on activities. This segment allowed demonstration of some practical applications related to Generative AI and Deep Learning.

Participants were successfully introduced to the theoretical foundations of Generative AI and Deep Learning.The hands-on session provided practical experience to the students and this event facilitated interaction between students, faculty, and the Resource Person.
It was a wonderful informative, enthusiastic, interactive session with active student participation. This Extension activity has created a technological environment and awareness about Future and application of Generative AI and Deep Learning in daily life.
The session had total number of 140 participants including both faculties and students of St. Philomena ‘s College
The final session included collecting feedback from the students (3:00 PM), the official Certification distribution 3:05 PM, followed by the Honouring the resource person at 3:10 PM.
The event formally ended after the participants completed the Feedback form 3:15 PM and a final Vote of Thanks by Zuha Anjum of of 3rd semester M.Sc. at 3:30 PM.
