
Cake Mixing: Colorful Cake Mixing Ceremony Showcasing Hospitality Excellence







St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous), Mysuru, through its Department of Tourism & Hospitality (BBA-TH), organized its annual Cake Mixing Ceremony on 19 November 2025 at 2:30 PM at Philos Bakery, PG Block. The event, an important tradition within the department, marks the beginning of the Christmas season and celebrates the spirit of togetherness, joy, and festive preparation. The ceremony also serves as a practical learning opportunity for students pursuing hospitality, offering them hands-on experience in bakery operations and event management.
The celebration was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Rev. Fr. Lourdu Prasad, Rector & Manager; Rev. Fr. Jnana Pragasam, Campus Administrator; Rev. Fr. David Sagayaraj, Assistant to Rector; Dr. Ravi JD Saldanha, Principal; Mr. Anand C, Vice Principal; Mr. Ronald Prakash Cutina, Vice Principal – Administration; Dr. Noor Mubasheer, PG Coordinator; Dr. Sunil Dsouza, PU Principal; and Mr. Ranjith, Head of the BBA-TH Department. Their presence added grace, inspiration, and encouragement to the event. The ceremony was effectively coordinated by Ms. Suhana Kulssum and Mr. Vishal C.P, who ensured smooth execution along with the support of teaching and non-teaching staff.
The event began with a warm welcome to the dignitaries and an introduction to the importance of cake mixing in the culinary and hospitality industry. The venue was beautifully decorated with Christmas-themed elements, creating a festive and lively ambiance. A vibrant assortment of dry fruits, nuts, spices, candied peels, cherries, raisins, and flavorful essences was arranged for the mixing ritual, symbolizing abundance and the richness of the festive season.
During the ceremony, dignitaries, staff members, and students donned aprons and gloves to participate in the traditional mixing of ingredients. This collaborative activity reflected unity, teamwork, and the shared joy of welcoming the Christmas spirit. The event also provided students with valuable insights into ingredient handling, hygiene practices, marination processes, and professional kitchen coordination—key components of their hospitality curriculum.
