Inter-Collegiate Hindi Competition
Department of Hindi, St.Philomena’s college had organized Inter Collegiate competitions in Hindi on 7th December 2019. Around 157 students from Mysore, Mandya and Hassan were present on this occasion.Film review, essay writing and slogan writing contest were held for PUC and Under Graduate students separately.
The key interest of the programme was to develop Innovative, Creative writing skills in students. Eassay writing topics were ‘Naithik shiksha’ or ‘Gandhi ke Vicharon ki prasangikatha’. Topics for slogan writing was ‘Hindi Bhasha’ or ‘Chandrayaan 2’ . Film review was on R. K. Laxman’s Malgudi Days “Nithya”
Students bagged the 1,2 and 3 prizes in Each category with Certificate, Books and Cash Prizes. Each participant was given the Participation certificate.
Valedictory function began with Prayer followed by Vice Rector Father Maria Xavier Sunil’s Presidential speech. He stressed the importance of language and it’s significance. It addressed the gathering with ” language is not only the media of communication but also it is media for literature and culture.” Shri Vidyadhar Sanjay Nair, Vice Principal, Dr. Poornima Umesh, HOD, Department of Hindi, Sri Praveen Hoogar, Aisstant professor, Miss Noor Muhammadi, Assistant professor were also graced the occasion.
Judges for the programme were Dr Mahejabeen, Senior Lecturer, Basaweshwara college, Sri Ganpat Rao, Lecturer, Basaweshwara college, Mr. Ansar Pasha, Assistant professor, University of Mysore, Sri Manjunath sing, Hindi premi and Smt. Sidd Ganga, Assistant professor, JSS college, Mysore.
Various organisations like Hindi ki Gunj, New Delhi, Aman Prakashan, Uttar Pradesh, Sahitya Sangam and Rashtriy bhasha Sahitya sansthan, Bangalore, Akanksha Ladies Club , JSW Steels, Vijayanagar works ,Bellary had contributed for prizes and certificates.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Poornima Umesh.
