
An Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse

An Awareness Program on Drug Abuse was organized by the IQAC of St. Philomena’s College, Bannimantap, Mysore, on 01 April 2026 at 09:45 AM in the college auditorium. The program aimed to educate students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to promote a healthy and responsible lifestyle.
The event began with a formal inauguration through the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries, symbolizing the dispelling of ignorance and the spread of knowledge. The program was graced by Rev. Dr. Lourdu Prasad Joseph (Rector and President of the function), Dr. Ravi J. D. Saldanha (Principal) and Mr. Ronald Prakash Cutinha (Vice Principal – Administration)
.The resource person for the session was Sri. Siddesh M. L., Sub-Inspector of Police, N.R. Traffic Police Station, Mysuru City. He delivered an insightful and impactful talk on drug abuse, highlighting its physical, psychological, and social consequences. He also discussed the legal implications and emphasized the importance of making informed and responsible choices. His session was interactive and engaging, encouraging students to ask questions and clarify their doubts.
A total of 110 students from BBA and B.Sc. streams participated in the program. The students showed keen interest and actively engaged in the session, gaining valuable awareness about the dangers of drug addiction and the importance of leading a drug-free life. The program concluded with a strong message: “Say NO to Drugs, Say YES to Life.” The initiative was successful in creating awareness and inspiring students to adopt a healthy and disciplined lifestyle. Overall, the program was informative, impactful, and well-received by the participants.
