Awareness and Plantation Program Organized by Department of BBA, St Philomena’s College Mysuru

As part of World Environment Day which is celebrated globally on June 5th every year the department of BBA of St Philomena’s College Mysuru, had organized a plantation drive and an Awareness program on the importance of planting saplings at Government Girls School, Srirangapatna, on June 16th 2022. The plantation drive was organized by the department of BBA in association with Youth Red Cross Unit of St Philomena’s College headed by Dr Prashanth D A, the programme officer.
In the formal inauguration, Dr Prashanth D A highlighted the importance of planting more and more trees, he also said in his speech that we are in the 50th year of celebrating environment day and it is the duty of every individual to plant at least one sapling. The Child development officer Mr Ashok was also present and emphasized the importance of protecting the environment. The head mistress, Mrs Saidabanu and the Staff C. J Srinivas, explained the need to plant trees and make the world greener and thanked staff and students of BBA of St Philomena’s College for their initiative and participation in the plantation drive.
Soon after the inauguration the plantation drive started and the saplings were planted together by the staff and students of department of BBA and the staff and students of Government Girls School, Srirangapatna. Around 25 saplings were planted with tree guards and around 75 saplings were donated to the school to be planted in coming days. After the plantation drive, games were organised for the school students by second year BBA students, Maria Sahana and Anu.
In the valedictory, prizes were distributed to the winner, which was sponsored by Mrs Arshiya Khanum. Anjali Joshy, Final year BBA student, proposed the vote of thanks. Mr Chandan Nandihal S, Head of the department of BBA, Coordinated the whole program. All the students took active part in plantation drive and were happy to be part of such program. The students and staff of department of BBA left to college at 1:30 pm after sumptuous meal offered by the school management. The objective of this plantation program was to create awareness among the students to plant more trees keeping in mind the sustainable development goals.
