Awareness Program on “Basic Computer Literacy” Government Higher Primary School

An extension activity was organized by the Department of Computer Science Staff and students  of St. Philomena‘s College. A college bus was arranged as a mode of  transport for both student and staff.  The group left the college at 10:15 AM and the reached Government Higher Primary School, HaleKesare at 10:30. AM.

The gathering was addressed by Asst. Professor Ms. Harinakshi , Department of Computer Science followed by welcome speech by student Harshitha M.G.

Later on sessions regarding awareness program started in batches. with the first batch undertaken by our student Mr.Vishwas on the topic “Functional components of Computer”. Then second batch was taken over by our  student Nithin on highlighting the “Application of Computers in Education” followed by “Applications of Internet in Online classes” by our  student Deepthi.

 Models were prepared by BCA and B.Sc students. Models like hand sanitizer, smart stick , human following robot ,smart dustbin etc.  were exhibited, explained and demonstrated to the students in a simple manner.

The session had total number of 127 participants including both faculties and students of St. Philomena‘s College with children and staff of government higher primary school. It was a wonderful informative, enthusiastic, interactive session with active student participation. This Extension activity has created a technological environment and awareness about computer and its application .

The extension activity concluded with the felicitation of Head Mistress Ms. Gowri. The program ended by the vote of thanks proposed by our student Jnana sai .
