ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
Those who protect the nature, Nature protects them.

Brief History:
The Department of Environmental Science began its journey in the year 2024 with a vision to foster environmental awareness and equip students with the knowledge and skills required to address contemporary environmental challenges. This UG programme is offered in combination with Food Science , Biotechnology , Botany and Zoology.
Vision:
Department of Environmental Science leading with a vision of academic excellence and environmental responsibility. With a solid academic foundation and extensive experience in environmental science.
- Transformative Education: We aim to provide an engaging and hands-on educational experience that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Our curriculum will integrate theoretical knowledge with practical applications, enabling students to tackle real-world environmental issues.
- Interdisciplinary Learning: Our department embraces an interdisciplinary approach, combining insights from Botany, Zoology, Food Science and Biotechnology. This holistic perspective will allow students to understand the interconnectedness of environmental systems and human impacts.
- Active Community Engagement: We are committed to fostering strong connections between our students and the communities they serve. Through service-learning projects, internships, and collaborative research initiatives, students will apply their knowledge in meaningful ways that benefit society.
Mission:
This program aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the interrelationships between humans and the environment, focusing on the science behind environmental processes, sustainability, and conservation.
As the world faces urgent issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, the Department seeks to inspire a new generation of environmental leaders who will play a pivotal role in finding solutions to these global crises. By integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application.
Innovative Initiative:
The Undergraduate Environmental Science Department is committed to shaping a sustainable future through innovative education, research, and community engagement. Our future goals focus on enhancing the academic experience, expanding research opportunities, and fostering global collaborations that empower students to become leaders in environmental stewardship.
1. Academic Developments -Designing course curriculum accordingly to the environmental issues.
2.Skills Development –Focus on developing transferable skills such as data analysis, scientific communication, and fieldwork techniques through practical sessions and laboratory work.
3.Internships-Secure internships with environmental organizations, government agencies, or private sector companies. This provides exposure to professional environments and enhances employability.
4.Fieldwork and Networks-
- Participate in field trips that allow students to study ecosystems and conservation efforts.
- Encourage attendance at workshops, seminars, and conferences related to environmental science. Networking with professionals in the field can lead to mentorship opportunities and job placements.
5. Diploma Course- Plans to introduce diploma course in Environmental Science with specialisation in Toxicology, Environmental Technician, meteorologist and Environmental Auditors.
Achievements:
The department is organised with well equipped laboratory and ICT enabled class room rendering focused education to the students. The department, established in 2024, has demonstrated remarkable progress by organizing workshops, field visits, seminars, and research activities within its first year.
