Annual Athletic Meet 2022-23
Annual Athletic Meet Programme was held at St. Philomena’s College on 26 May 2023 in the college ground at 8 AM. The NCC Cadets escorted the honorable chief guest and other dignitaries along with the St. Joseph’s school band. Mr. Rachael and team invoked the God’s blessing with a soulful hymn. Dr. C Venkatesh, Department of Studies in Physical Education and Sports Science, University of Mysore, the chief guest of the meet inaugurated and hoisted the college flag. Students from different streams, a total of sixteen teams together both UG and PG participated in the March Past.
The Sports Secretary Mr. Vidhyadhar Sanjay Nair introduced the contingent to the chief guest and other dignitaries. Br. Barnath welcomed the dignitaries and the gathering to the auspicious event. The physical director Ms. Peria Nayagammal.S read the Annual Sports report of the college 2022-23. Ms. Anna George introduced the Chief Guest to the gathering.
Dr. C Venkatesh, the chief guest addressed the inaugural speech in such a way where students listened to his talk carefully. He appreciated the school band and the students participated in the March Past. He stated that, St. Philomena’s College has its own name in Sports from the beginning. He shared his experience of his student Arjun Devaiah who created the world record in Pakistan. He emphasized that, Life is full of challenges and you need to be fit enough to face the struggle of life. He gave example of the great Sports personalities such as Husain Bolt, Arjun Devaiah and many more.
The dignitaries felicitated D. Rufus of 3rd year B-VOC, who completed National Level Republic Day camp 2023 held in Delhi. He participated in guard of honour and represented Karnataka and Goa Directory and also they felicitated the Cadet captain Raisa Batul Khanum of 3rd year BSC who completed state level Republic Day camp 2023 in Bangalore. Ms. Abiya Theresa Jose gave the vote of thanks and ended up the inaugural function.
After the formal segment of the event concluded, a series of athletic competitions took place:

Bombing the city was played with the teaching, non-teaching and the management of St. Philomena’s college. The winners of all sporting events were given the cash prizes and certificates for their mind-blowing performances in the competitions. At last they announced the winners of March past and the prizes were distributed.
Dr. Ravi J D Saldanha, Principal, St. Philomena’s College, congratulated the prize winners, the organizers, and thanked each one of them who were the part of this event and made this event a successful one. Each member of the college had a great unity and support from each other, though students are from different states and nationalities there was a team spirit not just for competition but also in spirit of union. The day concluded with the cheers of the teams still resonating in everyone’s hearts.
