A Report on Industrial Visit to Infosys Ltd at Mysore on 23rdOctober 2023
As part of Industry- Academia program, a visit to Infosys Limited, Mysore was arranged from Department ofCommerce with the department HOD’s Dr. Reena Francis along with 2 faculties Prof. Dr. Florita Alexander and Prof. SandeshD’Souza hadvisited Infosys campus.
All the registered students and staffs assembled at the college and left the college premises by 9.30 AM and reached Infosys, Mysore by 9:50AM.
The purpose of this visit was to gain insights into the operations and culture of Infosys Limited, one of India’s leading IT companies, and to learn about the company’s training and development programs.
The Infosys Mysore Campus is renowned for its world-class training facilities and for being a hub of innovation and excellence.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the HR team follwed by the security checks for safety purpose. The campus is sprawling and impressively designed, with state-of-the-art buildings, lush greenery, and modern amenities. We was particularly impressed by the cleanliness and organization throughout the campus. It truly reflects Infosys’s commitment to creating a conducive learning environment.
A brief-versatile introduction about the Campus was given to the students by Mr. Ashish, The Campus is mainly used for training new recruits. There was a mini city established inside the Campus which it is referred as Infosys Leadership Institution (ILI). It consists of Super Market, Music Room, Gym, Game Room etc were provided for the employees. Training period for IT Trainees is about 6 months.
Wehad the privilege of visiting the library which had a collection of 1 lakh books, followed by touring the training facilities, including well-equipped classrooms, laboratories, and simulation rooms. The infrastructure supports various training programs, including technical, leadership, and soft skills development.It was fascinating to know about the comprehensive training programs offered by Infosys. The emphasis on continuous learning and skill development is evident in their curriculum. The students were asked to gather in the conference hall and were shown a video clip of Infosys History, followed by an activity related lecture on Paper Engineering which made the students actively involve themselves in the use of Origami paper.
Later the students were lead to a brief tour of the Campus where It was said that the Infosys places a strong organizational culture. Employees and trainees are encouraged to embrace innovation, teamwork, and ethical values
After a brief campus tour, the students were lead to the Cafeteria we logged out of the Infosys Campus and returned to the college.
In conclusion, out visit to the Infosys Mysore Campus was both informative and inspiring. It reinforced Infosys’s reputation as a leader in the IT industry and as a company that prioritizes employee development and well-being. This experience has been enriching and will undoubtedly contribute to the understanding of the IT industry.
