
Extension activity on “Automation for a Safer Tomorrow: A Tech Showcase”

The Department of BCA at St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous), Mysore, organized an extension activity titled “Automation for a Safer Tomorrow: A Tech Showcase” on 17th March 2025 at MCS Public School, Galipura, Chamarajanagar. The event aimed to showcase technological innovations in automation that contribute to safety and security.
Schedule of the Event:
- 10:00 AM: Students and faculty departed from Mysore to Chamarajanagar.
- 12:00 PM: Arrival at MCS Public School, Chamarajanagar.
- 12:30 PM: Official welcome program organized by MCS High School, including introduction speech about St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous), Mysore by Rifana of 6th semester BCA , welcome speech by Mohammed Wasil of 6th semester BCA and vote of thanks by Faiza Anjum of 6th semester BCA .
- 12:45 PM: Exhibition of models commenced, where students presented their automation projects.
Students from different standards began visiting the exhibition.
- 9th Standard (A & B sections)
- 8th Standard (A & B sections)
- At 4:30 PM: Departure from Chamarajanagar to Mysore.
The exhibition featured innovative automation models focusing on safety applications.
Students actively participated in explaining their projects to students.

Faculty members and students of MCS Public School, Chamarajanagar, enthusiastically engaged with the showcased technologies, demonstrating curiosity and appreciation for the innovations.
The event strengthened the collaboration between the college and the school. Following models were demonstrated during the visit.

- Reverse car parking sensors
- Gas and Fire Detection System
- Arduino range finder using ultrasonic sensors
- Alcohol detector
- Automatic water dispenser
- Obstacle avoiding car
- Smart dustbin
- Anti sleeping device
- Finger Print Based Locker System
The “Automation for a Safer Tomorrow” extension activity was a successful initiative that enhanced awareness about automation and safety. The participation from students and faculty, along with the engagement of school students, made the event impactful. The activity fostered learning, innovation, and collaboration between institutions.

The session had total number of 160 participants including both faculties and students of St. Philomena‘s College along with students and staff of MCS Public School, Galipura, Chamarajanagar It was a wonderful informative, enthusiastic, interactive session with active student participation. This Extension activity has created a technological environment and awareness about Future of Artificial Intelligence and its application in daily life.
