He began by congratulating the graduating students and commending their hard work, perseverance, and determination that led them to this proud moment.
Dr. Chandrashekara urged the graduates to view education not as the mere acquisition of knowledge but as a transformative journey that shapes their perspectives, attitudes, and roles in society. He emphasized that knowledge without transformation is of little value in today’s rapidly evolving world. “In this information age,” he remarked, “data is abundant, but the real challenge lies in identifying and utilizing the right information effectively.”
He outlined that the modern world demands more than just academic excellence. Alongside knowledge and skills, he stressed the importance of developing the right attitude, which he described as a key determinant of success in personal and professional life. “The lack of a positive attitude can render even the most knowledgeable and skilled individuals ineffective,” he warned.
Highlighting the necessity of practical skills, Dr. Chandrashekara emphasized the importance of:
*Communication skills for effective interaction in diverse environments.
*Interpersonal relationship skills to build strong professional and personal networks.
*Crisis management and stress management skills to navigate the challenges of life with resilience.
He reminded the students that academic learning should not be confined to textbooks or syllabi but should serve as a foundation for continuous growth and adaptation. He encouraged the graduates to embrace lifelong learning, preparing themselves for challenges that extend beyond examinations and into the broader canvas of life.
Dr. Chandrashekara also addressed the increasingly competitive nature of professional fields. He assured students that opportunities are abundant across various sectors and urged them not to be intimidated by competition. Instead, he encouraged them to prepare rigorously and embrace these opportunities with confidence.
In addition to his emphasis on skill development, Dr. Chandrashekara shed light on career prospects. He highlighted the vast array of opportunities available in public service and administration through competitive examinations conducted by bodies like UPSC and State Public Service Commissions. “Employment in Central and State services opens doors to careers that not only ensure personal growth but also allow you to contribute significantly to society,” he stated.
He concluded his address by inspiring the graduates to be ambassadors of knowledge, service, and innovation, urging them to carry forward the values instilled by St. Philomena’s College. “As you step into the world, remember that education is not just about achieving success—it’s about using your success to uplift others and make a meaningful impact on society,” he said.
