Guest Lecture -Hindi Department
On 7th June 2022, A guest lecture was organized by Philo Hindi Club, Hindi Department, Sant Philomena’s College. The theme of the program was organized on the topic “International Booker Prize winner Gitanjali Sri ji”. Dr. Rekha Agrawal, Professor, University of Mysore was the keynote speaker of the program. The campus administrator , Father John Paul was present in the program. The program started with prayer from Anklesh Tigga and team. Dr. Purnima Umesh, Head of Department, Hindi Department gave the welcome address and showed all the audience a glimpse of all the programs organized by her Hindi department. Riya Kumari ji student of 2nd year degree gave a brief introduction of Dr. Rekha Agarwal ji. More than 150 students were participated in the session
Dr. Rekha Agrawal ji told in her keynote lecture that what are all the prize in India and other countries and what is the specialty of Booker Prize. How many people of India have received this proud award. As this year 2022 Bular Prize was the first Hindi literature to bag this prize and it is really a proud thing for we Indians.
The cheif guest explained in detail about Gitanjali Shri ji, what she has tried to write in his work “Reth Samadhi” which translates as “Tomb of sand”, work has been selected for the Booker Prize. She also said that students should always maintain the art of Hindi communicative and writing skills. Then only Hindi language and literature will prosper. At the end of the program, Dr. Diwakar, Assistant Professor, Hindi Department, proposed vote of thanks.
