
Guest lecture on “Knowledge representation in AI and its Application”

The Department of Computer Science, St. Philomena’s College, Mysuru organized Guest lecture on “Knowledge representation in AI and its Application” on 14th March 2024 . The Program started at 10:00 A.M in the College Auditorium in the gracious presence of Rev. Fr. Praveen K Gregory campus Administrator, Rev. Fr. Christopher S J Assistant to Rector, Prof .Nagaraj Urs vice principal academic, Mr. Ronald Prakash Cutinha vice principal Administration, Mr. Thomas Gunasheelan IQAC Coordinator, E. Gloriya priyadarshini H.O.D Dept. of Computer Science(BCA) and Ms. Harinakshi H.O.D Dept. of Computer Science(B.Sc), followed by Philo Anthem and invocation song by Richard and team(VI sem BCA students). The gathering was welcomed by Keerthi hazel of II semester B.Sc.

The chief guest of the day was introduced by Kruthika of VI semester B.C.A. The stage was taken over by the speaker of the day Dr. Sharath Kumar Y H. He gave insights about Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep learning. Sir started his presentation emphasizing on Generative AI. Small example problems like a checker’s learning problem, handwriting recognition problems were discussed.

An overview of Credit risk analysis and a sample of Hospital’s symbolic and classical data was displayed. Types of data was Explained in the session following with the playing of sample video on AI. Concept of Features was highlighted along with its classification. Example of Toy application:Fish sorting was demonstrated by the speaker. LPB(Local binary pattern), computation of co-occurrence matrix was explained with a brief of Chain code to the gathering.


The platform was kept open for Question and Answer session as a resort to clarify student Queries. The session had total number of 220 participants including both faculties and students of St. Philomena‘s College(B.Sc and B.C.A).

Finally the program was concluded with a vote of thanks by BiBi Zuha Anjum of VI semester B.C.A. followed by the Feedback from the students who attended the session.
