Guest Talk On: Caption Writing and Editorial Writing
On 23rd, November, 2022 at St. Philomena’s College, Mysore, the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication UG had organised a guest talk on “Caption writing and Editorial writing”. Mr. T R Satish Kumar, Special Correspondent, Deccan Herald, Mysore was the guest speaker of the day.
The speaker explained the importance of reading and writing skills, and said the journalist were constant learners and permanent students. He briefed about the significance of editorial writing and called it as the ‘Character of the newspapers’. Further he spoke about the seriousness of captioning the pictures and elucidated about how to write a photo caption.
Mr. T R Satish Kumar was felicitated by Rev. Fr. Praveen Gregory, Campus Administrator and Dr Ravi J D Saldanha, The Principal, St. Philomena’s college. The prizes were distributed to the students, who won the competition of Best Caption Writing, organised by the Department of Journalism. The students found the guest talk, very informative and interactive.
