Introduction
As part of academic curriculum, the first semester MBA students undertook an industrial visit to Kluber Lubrication India Pvt Ltd on 03/02/2026. The visit provided valuable exposure to real‐time industrial operations and enhanced our understanding of safety systems, production processes, research and development activities, and the strategic role of human resources in an organization.
Objective
- To understand the manufacturing process of specialty lubricants
- To gain exposure to industrial safety and HSE practices
- To learn about quality control and testing standards
- To understand the role of HR in a technology-driven organization
- To relate classroom concepts with practical industrial applications
Company Profile
Freudenberg Klüber Lubrication is a part of the Freudenberg Group, a global technology group with a strong legacy and presence across industries. The company was founded in 1849 in Germany and has successfully completed 175 years of industrial excellence.
Klüber Lubrication, established in 1921, specializes in high-performance specialty lubricants that are designed for demanding industrial applications. The company entered the Indian market in 1991 and established its Mysuru facility in 2007, strengthening its footprint in India’s chemical and manufacturing sector.
Today, Freudenberg Group operates in over 60 countries with a workforce of approximately 52,104 employees worldwide.
Initial Interaction with the Management Team. The session began with a warm welcome from
Ms. Bhamini (HR), who explained the company background and purpose of the visit. Mr. Jithin (HSE Manager) gave a detailed session on Health, Safety, and Environment practices. What impressed us the most was how safety is not just a rule there — it is a culture. Every movement inside the plant is structured and monitored.
Mr. Aachar Sripadraj (Plant Head) explained the operations, company growth, and how Klüber maintains global quality standards.
Ms. Siva Priya (Senior HR) shared insights into HR practices, employee engagement, on-boarding systems, and leadership development programs.

Safety Practices and Workplace Discipline
One of the most striking observations during the visit was the organization’s strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices. Safety was treated as a non‐negotiable priority over speed or production targets. Clearly marked yellow walking lines, designated pathways, alarm systems, and strict entry protocols demonstrated a disciplined safety culture within the plant.
Visitors were also required to strictly comply with safety regulations, highlighting the seriousness with which the company approaches risk prevention. This experience emphasized the importance of structured safety systems in ensuring employee well‐being and operational continuity.
Practical Exposure to Production Processes
The production unit visit offered firsthand understanding of how specialty greases and lubricants are manufactured using advanced machinery and systematic procedures. Students were able to observe the transformation of raw materials into finished products and the multiple stages involved in the process.
We gained insights into raw material handling, in‐process quality checks, and safe storage of finished goods. The plant layout was exceptionally neat, well‐organized, and properly maintained, reflecting efficient operational management and adherence to industrial standards.
Innovation and Role of Research & Development
The visit to the Research and Development (R&D) laboratory illustrated how innovation drives competitiveness in the chemical manufacturing sector. It became evident that products are not merely produced but are continuously researched, tested, and refined to meet evolving industrial requirements.
The students learned that high‐performance lubricants are specially formulated and customized for different industrial applications. Continuous improvement and technological advancement were identified as critical factors for sustaining market leadership, reinforcing the importance of research expertise in modern manufacturing industries.
Human Resource Management as a Strategic Function
The interactive session with the Human Resources department provided a new perspective on the strategic role of HR within an organization. The students understood that HR is not limited to recruitment activities but plays a crucial role in employee development, safety training, performance management, and organizational culture building.
The session highlighted how HR acts as a strategic partner in aligning workforce capabilities with organizational goals and fostering a productive and ethical workplace environment.

Conclusion
The industrial visit was an enriching learning experience that bridged theoretical concepts with practical application. Exposure to safety systems, production operations, R&D innovation, and HR practices broadened our understanding of industrial functioning and corporate professionalism. The visit significantly contributed to our managerial learning and prepared us for future professional roles in manufacturing and allied sectors.
