
INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO MYSURU RAILWAY MUSEUM

A group of 35 students from the Department of Tourism and Hospitality, St. Philomena’s College, visited the Mysuru Railway Museum on 7th February 2025. The museum was in established in 1979, showcases the history and development of railways in India. The
Objective of the visit was to understand the history and evolution of Indian Railways, observe the various exhibits and artifacts on display and to gain insight into the tourism potential of railway museum.

Students observed that the museum features a collection of vintage locomotives, coaches, and railway equipment. They were impressed by the well-preserved exhibits, including the Maharani’s Saloon and the Austin Railway Car. The museum’s outdoor display area showcased various locomotives, including steam engines and diesel engines. Further, students gained knowledge about the history and development of Indian Railways. They understood the significance of railway museums as a tourist attraction and developed an appreciation for the preservation of railway heritage.
The industrial visit to the Mysuru Railway Museum was an enriching experience for the students, while also exploring the tourism potential of railway museum.
