About IIC

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) is an initiative launched by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), Government of India in the year 2018, with the objective of systematically fostering the culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and start-up ecosystems in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs).

The IIC framework mandates institutions to create a structured body within the campus to encourage idea generation, prototype development, innovation-based learning, start-up support, and IPR awareness among students and faculty.

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at St. Philomena’s College was established in alignment with the guidelines of the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), Government of India, in the year 2024.Our goal is to foster a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity within the campus by engaging students, faculty, and stakeholders in idea generation, incubation, and start-up activities.

  • Engage students and faculty in ideation, problem-solving, and start-up activities
  • Promote interdisciplinary thinking and design-driven innovation
  • Build strong linkages with industry, alumni, incubators, and funding agencies

To foster a culture of innovation, research, and entrepreneurship at St. Philomena’s College by empowering students and faculty with skills, resources, and opportunities to transform ideas into impactful solutions.

Key Initiatives

The Institution’s Innovation Council at St. Philomena’s College undertakes the following strategic initiatives throughout the academic year in line with the IIC Calendar:

  • Start-up & Entrepreneurship Events – Guiding student start-ups from concept to prototype.
  • Workshops & Seminars – Expert-led sessions on design thinking, innovation management, and business planning.
  • Celebration Activities – Observing innovation-related days such as National Innovation Day and Start-up Day.
  • Idea Competitions &Hackathons – Encouraging students to pitch and refine innovative solutions.
  • Networking Opportunities – Connecting students with successful entrepreneurs, investors, and industry mentors.
