INTERNATIONAL E-CONFERENCE ON “CAREER OPPORTUNITIES FOR TOURISM AND HOTEL MANAGEMENT GRADUATES OTHER THAN T&H INDUSTRY’’

International E-Conference was organised by the Dept.of Tourism and Hospitality,St.Philomena’s College on 12^th of August 2021. Prof.Paul Iruthayaraj HoD,Dept of Tourism and Hospitality welcomed the Chief Guest Dr. Sangameshvara, former vice chancellor,Mysore, Rev,Fr,Maria Xavier,Vice Rector,St.Philomena’s College,Mysore , Dr.Alphonsus D’Souza,Principal, St.Philomenas College,Mysore, Rev.Fr.John Paul,Campus Administrator,St.Philomenas College,Mysore, dignitaries and participants from across the globe. Prof.Paul Iruthayaraj lighted the facilities and courses offered by the department and various events organised to motivate the students to become industry ready. Then all the dignitaries gathered together for the lighting of the lamp and that started off the event. The Chief Guest released the conference poster and gave a speech highlighting the opportunities and schemes implemented by the government to reboot Tourism, He spoke on the scheme of ‘’Start up India “and spoke about job opportunities available in the Industry. Dr.Alphonsus D,souza, Principal gave a speech on the current condition and situation of the Tourism and Hospitality Industry and spoke on how Industry is tackling this situation. Vice Rector,Fr.Maria Xavier honoured the Chief Guest by presenting a momento. After the inauguration the conference sessions began, The first presentation was given by Mr.Brijesh Gasper Edwards,Manager Director Synergy Exposures & Events India pvt Ltd,he gave brief introduction about the MICE, and spoke about the growth of MICE Industry, MICE services and Revenue implementations and explained about the Attributes & Skills required for a MICE Professional. Moving on to the next session by Mr.Rakesh VenkataChalam,Business Relationship Officer,Wall Street Exchange,Dubai,UAE.He Highlighted the Opportunities in Foreign Exchange and IT Industry, and explained about Qualities one requires to work for Foreign Exchange and IT. The Third presentation was given by Mr. Deepak Dharman,Business Development Manager,RAK Insurance,Abu Dhabi,UAE, highlighted the Opportunities in Banking & Insurance sector,he explained about his Skills and Interest in Food and Beverage Service and hunt jobs in Insurance and Banking sector,explained how the hotel qualification will be helpful to enter into Banking and Insurance sector,followed by our next Speaker Mr.Giftson Lownald,Facilities Manager,JLL,India, He spoke on the topic Opportunities in Facilities Management,he briefly introduced about his Industry,and spoke about his career and shared his experiences and how he tackled difficult situations as a staff member of an Organisation and he explained about the Optional degree. Then the last Speaker Chef.Sathish Dakshinamooorthy,Demi chef de partie,Pastry kitchen,Qatar National Convention Centre,Doha,Qatar,He briefed about the Opportunities in Convention Catering Industry,he shared his Industrial Experience and Training,and his duties and work as a Pastry Chef. Then it concluded with the Sessions.Prof.Rini Brown,Dept. of Tourism and Hospitality gave a vote of thanks to all the resource persons and thanked all the participants from countries like  -UAE,United Kingdom,etc and states like Assam,Delhi,Haryana,Jammu & Kashmir,Sikkim,Karnataka,Kerala,Tamil Nadu,Andhra Pradesh etc. for their active participation throughout the E-conference.
