International Women’s Day Celebration
The Women Cell of St. Philomena’s College organized an International Women’s day celebration on March 8, 2021 at 2.30 pm in the Indoor stadium of the college.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Geetha Prassana, Deputy Commissioner of Police, said, ‘Today, women have entered into all fields. Women have achieved success in politics, business, education, social service, sports and other sectors too’.
‘The major challenge faced by women today is work -life balance. The society has developed, yet woman has to take the household chores. Women continue to take responsibility of household chores, looking after children and family. At the same time, she has to focus on her career. Women have to learn to balance both professional life and personal life, because, finally, family stands by us’ she opined.
‘As a mother we need to give real exposure of the world to our children. We should not make them book worm. When we give them practical exposure, they learn to lead their life, that is the ultimate purpose of education’ she said.
On this occasion, the college honored the successful couple Mr John D’souza and Mrs Celine D’souza. Both are retired Bankers.
On the Occasion, the students presented a skit, dance and songs based on the theme- Women Empowerment. The Women Cell had organized a number of competitions and prize distribution took place during the function.
Rector of the College Rev. Fr. Bernad Prakash Barnis, Vice Rector, Rev. Fr. Maria Xavier, Campus Administrator, Rev. Fr. John Paul R, Principal Dr. Ruth Shantha Kumari and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
