Media Visit to All India Radio, Mysuru
Introduction
The students of Dept. of Journalism and Mass Communication and B.Vov of St. Philomena’s College, Mysuru visited AIR, Mysuru on August 20, 2019 as part of their media visit. Students of both MA communication and B.Voc were part of the visit. The session was guided by Ramanjappa IB(E)S Assistant Director.
Visit to Akashavani Studio
As part of the visit student have been take to studio of Akashavani to understand technical part of radio production. Various aspects of radio system working were explained by Ramanjappa IB(E)S Assistant Director. Different studios are assigned to particular programs like musical platform, talk show, farmer or agricultural discussion and phone-in booth with acoustic proofing. All the studios are monitored from hexagonal shaped control room. The recording and editing equipment’s like digital console, mixers, audio work station, transmitter and adobe audition were explicated. The students were given opportunities to record their voices and work on editing of the same. The live monitoring and control of programmes was exhibited. The purpose and functioning of programmes carried out in the station was briefed by Ramanjappa.
Briefing on working of Akashavani
Sunil Bhatia, Director of AIR, Mysuru has brief on Working of Akshavani, he said Mysore being the cultural capital of the state, has a rich resource of classical, light and folk music. All India Radio, Mysore is equipped with talented Staff Artists as well as Auditioned artists on casual panel.
Director also explained about broadcast norms of AIR, he said broadcast largely on the Medium Wave frequency, follow a composite programme pattern comprising of music – classical, light, folk and film, News and Current Affairs, Radio plays, features, Farm and Home programmes, programmes on Health & Family Welfare and programmes for Woman, Children etc.
All India Radio, Mysore has organized many a Radio Sangeeth Sammelana and has won quite a few awards in National and State Level Competitions which include Akashvani Annual Awards also he said.
The visit ended on the note of feedback talks and certificate distribution by Sunil Bhatia, Director of AIR, Mysuru.
