ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON IOT
The Department of BCA, St. Philomena’s College, Mysuru organized one day workshop on “Internet of Things(IOT)” on 26th March 2025 . The Program started at 10:00 A.M in the class room L16 in the gracious presence of Rev. Fr. Dr. Lourdu Prasad Rector, Rev. Fr. Gnana Pragasam Campus Administrator, Prof .Nagaraj Urs Vice Principal Academic, Mr. Ronald Prakash Cutinha Vice Principal Administration, Mr. Thomas Gunaseelan IQAC Coordinator, E. The Speaker of the day was introduced by Afreen Taj of IV semester B.C.A. The stage was taken over by the Mohamad Yasir Hassan. He gave insights about IOT. Sir started his presentation with understanding IOT and Small example about IOT ultrasonic distance finder was explained.

Before beginning the coding part of the project, Sir thaught the installation process of the Arduino IDE (Windows : MSI Installer) for Windows and made students to install in their laptops. Then after the lunch break of 30 mins, students were divided into 11 teams and were given different electronic components such as Arduino Uno, PIR sensor, ESP 32, LCD display, jumper cables and buzzzer etc.

Then student were given the code to enter in the Arduino IDE and compile the code. Sir explained the code in detail. After compiling Sir asked student to do the connections of the components. He and his team members helped students to do the connections of the circuit. Students designed the circuit to display a message on the LCD display, play any song using buzzer, run the stop clock using start and stop button, display the distance using Ultrasonic sensor and so on.
All the teams were able to do the connections and get the outputs of the model. It was a very interactive and responsive hands-on session. Students understood the importance of IoT components in their day-to-day life and how it impacts on the present and the future.
The platform was kept open for Question and Answer session as a resort to clarify student Queries. The session had total number of 60 participants including both faculties and students of St. Philomena‘s College(B.C.A).
