Orientation Program for UG fifth semester students
The orientation program was held in the indoor stadium at morning 9.30 in St. Philomena’s college. The program began with the prayer service by Mr. Joel and team along with that the delegates lighted the lamp and inaugurated the program. Ms. Jenifer Priya, department of English, welcomed the delegates, staff and non teaching staff and students by giving the welcome speech.
Dr. Sr. Juanita, the director of Teresian college, Rev. Dr. Bernard Prakash Barnis, the Rector of the college, Rev. Fr. Maria Xavier, the Vice Rector, Rev. Fr. Praveen K Gregory, Campus Administrator, Rev. Fr. Christopher S J, Assistant Rector, Dr. Ravi J D Saldhanha, the Principal of the college, Mr. M Nagaraj Urs, the Academic Dean of the college were present in the program.
Dr. Sr. Juanita, director of Teresian College was the speaker for the orientation program and began the session with a great enthusiasm and excitement. Sister gave a motivational speech, which was filled with beautiful and splendid examples. She spoke about the importance of one’s life and she compared students as the spark of the lamp. She also quoted that, financial freedom is not everything, it is better to first be healthy and nurtured. Each of us should have an excitement, goal, a balanced successful life and should know how to protect the spark from the storms to have a better life, she added. Sister concluded her speech by quoting few important lines from the book of holy bible.
Dr. Ravi. J D Saldhanha, principal of the college, felicitated Dr. Rev. Juanita by giving her the momentum of honor. Principal addressed the students by speaking about the academics, the rules and regulation of the college and gave some briefs about the value added courses and about the placement cell. He also spoke about the different kinds of committees that the college has formed.
Ms. Farah the head of the placement cell spoke about the opportunities that are given from several companies like Swiggy the food delivering partner and many more. She had held an activity session for the students to make them understand about the career and the opportunities that are offered.
Mr. Rajendra Prasad, Summit IAS Academy spoke about the advantages and the disadvantages of the government and private job. He spoke about the services that are provided by their academy.
Dr. Deepa.V, Cultural Coordinator, spoke about the cultural inauguration which will be happening on 21st October and asked the students to enroll themselves in the cultural activities and events which will be held , she also emphasized on the importance of extracurricular and co curricular activities. Ms. Archana Mandonca, department of chemistry proposed the vote of thanks to the delegates, teaching and non teaching staffs, students and the anchoring of the program was done by Mr. William Joseph, department of English.
