Industrial Visit Report

As part of the curriculum and to provide practical exposure to students, a group of 40 final year BBA students visited Rane Madras Ltd., located at Hootagalli, Mysuru, on 11th April 2025. The industrial visit was organized to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-time industrial practices. The students were accompanied by two faculty members from the department.
Objective of the Visit:
- To gain firsthand knowledge of manufacturing and operational processes.
- To understand the application of management concepts in a real-world industrial setup.
- To expose students to work culture, safety norms, and quality control mechanisms in a manufacturing unit.
About Rane Madras Ltd:
Rane Madras Ltd. Is a part of the renowned Rane Group, known for manufacturing steering and suspension systems, die-casting products, and other automotive components. The Hootagalli unit primarily focuses on producing steering components for various automobile manufacturers.
Key Highlights of the Visit:
- A detailed orientation session was provided by the company representatives, introducing students to the company’s history, operations, and core values.
- Students were taken through the production lines, where they observed the manufacturing of steering gears and other components.
- Discussions on quality control, lean manufacturing, supply chain logistics, and safety standards were held.
- Students had the opportunity to interact with the managerial staff and engineers to clarify doubts and gain insights into different functional areas of the organization.
Outcome of the Visit:
The industrial visit proved to be highly educational and beneficial for the students. It enhanced their understanding of industrial processes and gave them a clear picture of how business operations are managed in the manufacturing sector. It also helped in strengthening their interest in industrial and operations management.
