Report on Awareness Programme on Road Safety
St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous), Mysuru, Postgraduate and Research Centre organised an impactful Awareness Programme on Road Safety on 19th November 2025 in collaboration with the Narasimharaja Traffic Police Station, Mysuru City. Police Inspector Mrs. Rekha Bai M. H. delivered an insightful session highlighting the importance of responsible behaviour on the roads and urged students to strictly follow traffic regulations such as wearing helmets, maintaining valid documents, and prioritising both personal and public safety. She also cautioned them against indulging in reckless activities like wheeling, overspeeding, and other forms of dangerous riding that not only endanger their lives but also those of others. Sub-Inspector Mr. Mahaveer Beelagi and Assistant Sub-Inspector Mr. M. B. Dileep were present at the event, with ASI Mr. Dileep emphasizing that students, many of whom are still dependent on their parents, should aim to be disciplined, accountable, and an asset to their families and society by following road laws diligently. PG Coordinator Dr. Noor Mubasheer C. A. warmly introduced the guests, coordinated the programme with efficiency, and reminded students that wearing helmets inside the campus is not only a rule but a vital measure for ensuring overall safety. She encouraged students to become proactive ambassadors of road safety by spreading awareness and setting a positive example for their peers. The programme saw the active participation of 120 postgraduate students, along with faculty members from various departments, making the event both informative and impactful in promoting a culture of safety, responsibility, and awareness among young learners.
