
Report on Participation in the State-Level Translation Workshop
The Government of Karnataka, Department of Kannada and Culture, in association with KuvempuBhashaBharatiPradhikara, Bengaluru, and Sri Gavisiddeshwara College, Koppal University, Koppal, organized a State-Level Translation Workshop (RajyamattadaAnuvaadaKaaryagaara) on 8th and 9th July 2025 at Sri Gavisiddeshwara College, Koppal.

The workshop aimed to promote the significance of translation in the fields of literature, language, and academics while also encouraging collaboration among scholars, translators, and researchers to strengthen multilingual exchanges.
An official notification (Ref. No: ಕುಭಾಭಾ/46/ಅನುוואַದಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ/2025-26, dated 13.06.2025) was issued by KuvempuBhashaBharatiPradhikara, inviting Dr.Poornima A.P., Head, Department of Hindi, St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous), Mysuru, to participate in this important academic event.

Dr.PoornimaUmesh attended the workshop as a participant. She actively engaged in the technical sessions and deliberations, contributing her perspectives on Hindi–Kannada translation practices,
She Translated Dr Nasirasharma’s Prose “Sarhadkeuspaar” to kannada as ” Gadiyaaache “. She was among 23 translators of Karnataka in this workshop and she has already translated 13 books under National book trust of India.
Her participation added value to the discussions, particularly highlighting how translation makes knowledge and literature accessible across linguistic boundaries.

The inaugural session was presided over by eminent dignitaries, academicians, and members of KuvempuBhashaBharatiPradhikara. The sessions included paper presentations, interactive workshops, and panel discussions on practical and theoretical aspects of translation.
The workshop concluded successfully, encouraging participants to continue their scholarly contributions towards the development of multilingual literature. Dr.PoornimaUmesh’s participation was a significant academic contribution, reflecting the commitment of St. Philomena’s College towards promoting literary and culture.
