‘SADBHAVANA DIWAS’
The St. Philomena’s College celebrated ‘SADBHAVANA DIWAS’ by conducting an Online Special lecture on 20-08-2020 at 10.30am in the College Conference Hall. Prof.MC Prabha, former HOD, Department of History and a coveted alumnus was the Chief Guest. Principal Dr.Ruth Shantha kumari, Vice Principal Prof.Sanjay Nair, Prof.Dominic Britto Rayan, Controller of Examination, IQAC Coordinator Mr.Ronald Prakash Cutinha along with other faculty members were present during the occasion.
Mr.William, department of English welcomed the august gathering. Dr.Prakash Arulappa, HOD, Department of History introduced the Chief Guest.
Prof.MC Prabha who is associated with the college for nearly 50 years thanked the management and Principal for inviting her for the occasion. Prof.Prabha encouraged the participants to have Sadbhavan or good will not only for a day but throughout .She also highlighted some of the schemes initiated by late and former Prime Minister Shri.Rajeev Gandhi like Navodaya Vidyalaya, Public Call, reducing the voting age from 21 to 18 years, and so on.
Prof. Prabha inisisted that Sadbhavana should be inculcated in children and childhood which will make a greater impact in the long run. Sadbhavana should make our India and its Youth, strong and self-reliant, opined Prof.Prabha. She said that Sadbhavana and Service are like two sides of the same coin, while quoting Mahatma Gandhi, “The best of finding yourself is losing yourself in the service of others.” Prof Prabha also expressed her sincere gratitude to Corona Warriors, Mercy Angels, Police, Doctors, Nurses and the government for showing the true Sadbhavana towards public.
Prof. Prabha concluded by unleashing a global truth that “People become successful not because of position, status or money but because of their Sadbhavan towards others.”
This was followed by a short video documentary on the theme of ‘Sadbhavana Diwas’.Principal Dr.Ruth Shantha Kumari rendered her concluding remarks. She expressed her delight to be a part of Philomena’s College which is also known as ‘Global Village’. She said that eventhough India is a land of cultural, religious diversities but still ‘Unity’ is the driving force which is a rare beauty and a privilege for any Country. Dr.Ruth was filled with a sense of gratitude while acknowledging the service of all those supporting staff who worked behind the curtain for the success of this event. The programme was well attended by teachers and students.
