Platinum Jubilee Philos Cup Intercollegiate Basketball and Football Tournament (Men) 2022-23
St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous) had organized Platinum Jubilee Philos Cup Inter Collegiate Two Days Basketball and Football Tournament for the academic year 2022-23 for Men’s Section. The inaugural function was held in the indoor stadium on 30th November 2022 at 9.30 AM.
Rev. Dr. Barnard Prakash Barnis, Rector, St. Philomena’s Educational Institution, Rev. Dr. M Vincent, Chief guest of the event, Former Principal, St Philomena’s PU College, Mysore, Rev. Fr. Maria Xavier, Vice Rector, Rev. Fr. Praveen K Gregory, Campus administrator, Rev. Fr. Christopher, Assistant Rector, Dr. Ravi J D Saldanha, Principal, Br. Dolphy D’Mello, Boys hostel warden, Mr. V Sanjay Nair, Sports Secretary and Vice Principal, Prof. Othbert Pinto, PG Director, Ms. Peria Nayagammal.S, Physical Education Director of Degree and Mr. Muralidhara, Physical Education Director of PU College were present in the event.
The inaugural function was started with the Philos Anthem and the declaration of the event was done by Rev. Dr. M Vincent, Chief Guest of the event. The Chief Guest kick started the inaugural function by addressing the gathering with a great enthusiasm. He said that, Sports is the integral part of the education and spoke about the effort one should put to reach success rather not thinking of winning and losing. He emphasized on maintaining fitness and stated that, sports will shape you physically also in case of health too. Also he said that, team work is very much necessary to reach the success and one should be able to accept the failures and carry on good spirit. At last he wished the participants and said them to have the spirit of sportsmen ship. The dignitaries on the dais felicitated the Chief Guest.
Dr. Ravi J D Saldanha, Principal of the College spoke few words to inspire the students and wish them the luck. He congratulated the organizers for planning and executing the event. He also thanked the chief guest Rev. Dr. M Vincent for his presence and at last he added by saying that, the culture of sports in Philomena’s College is continuing and hopes that it continues in the future too.
Inter collegiate Basketball Tournament 2022
The department of Physical Education of St. Philomena’s college (Autonomous) Bannimantap, Mysore on 30th November and 1st of December 2022 had organized an Intercollegiate Basketball Tournament (Men) 2022 in view of 75th Platinum Jubilee celebration.
The Tournament kick started with St. Joseph College (Jayalakshmipuram) against Christ College at 10.30 AM in the indoor stadium on 30th November 2022.
Defeating the host St. Philomena’s College and JSS College in their semi final, two best teams such as the Sapient College and Mica College played the final.
MICA college participants with the score of 60-44 won the intercollegiate basketball tournament 2022. The winners received the intercollegiate Basketball Philos Cup trophy, Medals and the cash prize of Rs. 5000 and the runner up trophy along with Rs. 3000 cash prize was given to the Sapient College.
The match officials received the token of appreciation for their relentless and fair job. Rev. Fr. Maria Xavier, Vice-Rector, St. Philomena’s Educational institutions and Rev. Fr Christopher SJ, Assistant Rector along with the Vice principal Prof. Sanjay Nair and Ms. Peria, the Physical Director did the honorarium.
Inter Collegiate Philos 5’s Football Tournament 2022
The Department of Physical Education of St.Philomena’s College (Autonomous) Bannimantap, Mysore on 30th November and 1st of December 2022 had organized Philos Cup Intercollegiate Football Tournament (Men) 2022 in of Platinum Jubilee celebration
The Tournament was kick started by the SJCE College against Vidya Ashram College in St. Philomena’s College ground at 10.30 AM on 30th November 2022.
Defeating Cauvery College Team B and SJCE College in their semi final games, two best teams such as Cauvery College Team A (Kodagu) and Sacredian College (Mangalore) played the final. Sacredian College participants with the score of 4:1 won the Philos Cup Intercollegiate Football tournament 2022. A winning trophy and cash prize of Rs. 13,000/- were given to the winners and Runner ups trophy along with cash prize of Rs. 8000/- were given to the Cauvery A (Kodagu) College.
