Introduction: On 4th May 2023, a Fire Safety Demonstration was organized by the St. Philo’s Rovers and Rangers Unit of St. Philomena’s College, Mysore, in collaboration with the District Fire Station in Bannimantap, Mysore. The event aimed to raise awareness about fire safety among the students and staff of the college, as well as the local community.
Objectives: The primary objectives of the Fire Safety Demonstration were as follows:
a) Educate participants about fire hazards, prevention, and safety measures.
b) Showcase the role and capabilities of the District Fire Station in handling fire emergencies.
c) Promote a culture of safety and preparedness in the college and local community.
Participants: The event witnessed a significant turnout, including:
Students and faculty members from St. Philomena’s College, Mysore.
Members of the Philo’s Rovers and Rangers Unit.
Representatives from the District Fire Station, Bannimantap.
Local community members, including residents from nearby areas.
Schedule of Events: The Fire Safety Demonstration was conducted according to the following schedule:
11:30 AM: Introduction and Welcome
The event commenced with a warm welcome to the district fire officer Mr. P Chandan and all the participants. Ranger Leader Dr. Sowmya P and Rover Leader Mr. Mathew C introduced the purpose and importance of the demonstration.
11:45 AM: Presentation on Fire Safety
A comprehensive presentation on fire safety was delivered by the district fire officer Mr. P Chandan and other experts from the District Fire Station.
The presentation covered topics such as fire prevention, identifying fire hazards, emergency evacuation procedures, and the proper use of fire extinguishers.
12:15 PM: Practical Demonstration
The practical demonstration involved showcasing various fire safety techniques and equipment.
The District Fire Station personnel demonstrated the use of fire extinguishers, fire blankets, and other firefighting tools.
They also showcased the process of evacuating a building during a fire emergency.
12:45 PM: Q&A Session
Participants were given an opportunity to ask questions and clarify their doubts regarding fire safety.
The experts from the District Fire Station provided detailed explanations and guidance.
1:00 PM: Closing Ceremony
The event concluded with a closing ceremony, where Ranger Leader Dr. Sowmya P and Rover Leader Mr. Mathew C expressed their gratitude to the District Fire Station for their collaboration and emphasized the importance of implementing fire safety measures in everyday life.
Impact and Feedback: The Fire Safety Demonstration received positive feedback from the participants. The event successfully enhanced the participants’ knowledge and understanding of fire safety, equipping them with valuable skills to prevent and handle fire emergencies.
