STATE LEVEL ONLINE SYMPOSIUM ON “EXAMINATION AND EVALUATION IN HINDI LANGUAGE IN CONTEXT WITH NEP-2020”
Department of Hindi, St. Philomena’s College, Mysore and Government of India, Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education, Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysore jointly organized the online symposium on January 21, 2022 on “Examination and Evaluation in Hindi language in Context with NEP policy 2020”. The program started with lighting of the lamp. Rector Rev. Dr. Barnad Prakash Barnis, Principal Dr. Alphonsus D’Souza, IQAC coordinator along with chief Guests joined together to light the lamp. The head of the department of Hindi, Dr. Poornima Umesh welcomed the dignitaries and the participants. Dr. Alphonsus D’Souza, the Principal of St. Philomena’s college delivered the inaugural address in Hindi which was the moment of pride for the programme.
The Chief guest Dr. Biresh Kumar, CIIL, Mysore clearly explained the Examination and Evaluation in New Education Policy. The policy envisions an Indian centric education system that directly contributes to transform our country into an equitable and vibrant knowledgeable society by providing high quality education to all. This policy will help in promoting skill-based learning and also enhance practical skills of the students.NEP pays special attention to National research foundation because innovation is one of the most important parts for the progress of a country because only when research and innovations are strong enough the youth will be able to progress in this competitive world. Dr. Biresh Kumar also spoke of the issue and the complication regarding Evaluation in NEP.
Thereafter honorable Dr. Baswaraj K Baraker, Associate professor of Maharaja college, Mysore explained in detail the examination and evaluation prescribed by University of Mysore. He illustrated to the teachers how the qualities of the students are identified from the answer sheet and explained briefly the difference between the old and the new education system. The process of the evaluation of the paper and the division of the marks was discussed thoroughly.
Programme was followed by question-and-answer session and there was a massive discussion. Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant professors and lecturers from Mysore, Hassan, Tumkur, Bangalore, Puttur and Dharwad participated in the programme. Everyone’s confusion was resolved and their questions were answered in an effective manner.
Felicitation of the dignitaries took place after the question answer session. They were honored by St. Philomena’s College for their contribution towards Hindi language and literature. The principal and the head of the Department Felicitated Dr Biresh Kumar fallowed by Dr Basawaraj K Baraker.
Finally, the Programme was concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Poornima Umesh. All the participants got E- Certificate. The students of the Department of Hindi joined voluntarily to assist the Teacher.
