8TH INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
Palace Grounds – Visit of Narendra Modi – Prime Minister
The highlight of this International Day of Yoga is “Guardian Ring of Yoga” which brings to fore the concept of “One Sun, One Earth”.
Yoga brings peace to mind and body. It relaxes people and gives them the much needed energy to direct their actions into a productive force. In order to celebrate Yoga and spread awareness about its innumerable benefits, International Yoga Day is being celebrated across the world on 21 June, Tuesday. The theme for International Yoga Day 2022 is “Yoga for Humanity”.
The tough unprecedented times of COVID -19, brought yoga to attention as it proved to be the perfect cure for people struggling with physical and mental health issues. It helped several individuals overcome their problems and illness. Therefore, yoga is known to be the best material, psychological and spiritual exercise that encourages a person to lead a healthy and peaceful life.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday led the country’s International Yoga Day 2022 celebrations at a mega event in Mysuru. PM Modi performed Yoga asanas at the mass event which was joined by 15,000 yoga enthusiasts. Speaking at the programme, PM Modi said Yoga have become a “global phenomenon” now.
“This whole universe starts from our own body and soul. The universe starts from us. Yoga brings peace for us. The peace from yoga is not merely for individuals. Yoga brings peace to our society. Yoga brings peace to our nations and the world. And, Yoga brings peace to our universe,” PM Modi said.
Under the Banner of the Department of Physical Education 50 students of St. Philomena’s College had the pride of participating in the 8th International Yoga Day with all Vigour. This was a special celebration as we had the visit of Narendra Modi, the Honourable Prime Minister of India.
The set up began a month ago with constant rehearsals in the Palace Grounds, Mysore. St. Philomena’s College had the privilege of participating in all the rehearsals, which was conducted in the month of May 2022 onwards every Sunday.
It was a joy that 45 students along with 5 teachers from St. Philomena’s College received the entry pass after all procedures and verification, to participate in the 8th International Yoga Day that was hosted in the Palace Grounds. It was an awesome experience, a cherished memory and a moment of delight to the Institute.
The Students also exhibited the asanas in the presence of the Management to give awareness to the students of the Institution.
In collaboration with ESI officials, there was an awareness programme for the Non-teaching staff, Group D workers and Support Staff along with the students who participated in the International Yoga Day.
There was also the celebration of International Yoga Day by St. Joseph’s Nursing College where we were instructors to the Nursing Students. It was indeed a great day to have continuous International Yoga Day Celebration in the Campus for different groups of people.
We take this privilege to thank the Management, JD office officials for the Collegiate and AYUSH for giving us the opportunity and selecting the students of St. Philomena’s College for giving their whole hearted participation in the 8th International Yoga Day led by Narendra Modi, the Honourable Prime Minister of India.
