The PG Department of Economics organized a practical session on “Use of SPSS Software for Research” on April 15, 2026 at the Computer Laboratory for the IV Semester students of M.A. Economics.

OBJECTIVES OF THE SESSION
- To introduce students to SPSS software and its applications in research
- To provide hands-on training in statistical data analysis
- To enhance students’ analytical and research skills
- To bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application
SESSION DETAILS
The programme was conducted in the Computer Laboratory with active participation from IV Semester M.A. Economics students. The session was handled by Dr. Madhu G. R, who has expertise in statistical tools and research methodology.
During the session, the resource person provided a detailed explanation and demonstration of SPSS software, covering key aspects such as:
- Data entry and variable definition
- Descriptive statistics
- Correlation and regression analysis
- Interpretation of statistical outputs
The session was highly interactive and practice-oriented. Students worked individually on computers and performed data analysis under the guidance of the resource person. The hands-on training enabled them to understand the real-time application of SPSS in economic research.
