With reference to the letter from National Foundation for Communal Harmony, New Delhi dated 01-10-2020 vis-à-vis ‘Observance of the communal Harmony Campaign Week from 19th to 25th November 2020 and Flag day,the Department of Political Science, St. Philomena’s College, Bannimantap,Mysuru,Karnataka,under the guidance of National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH),New Delhi, observed ‘Communal Harmony, National Integration and Flag day’on 25th November by conducting an Online Special lecture on 25th November 2020 at 10.30am at the College Conference Hall. Prof. M C Prabha, former HOD, Department of History and a coveted alumnus was the Chief Guest.
Prof .M C Prabha in her speech expressed serious concern about the relevance of promoting Communal Harmony in the present context of socio-political and religious condition of India. Prof. Prabha opined that the first step towards communal harmony is to develop qualities of Tolerance, Peaceful living and Goodness. She also gave a mantra of cultivating ‘Goodness’ to such an extent that it becomes difficult for others to vitiate young minds. Communal Harmony can be achieved if India fights challenges like Communalism, Regionalism, Terrorism, anti-social activities and infiltration opined Prof. Prabha. She also emphasised the fact that if we initiate steps like Secularism, Peace and Harmonious existence,Sadbhavan Diwas,Political Unity and National feelings surely communal harmony can be achieved.The overall message from Prof .M C Prabha is to not only observing Communal Harmony Day/Flag Day but Communal Harmony should become the way of life.
