INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND TRAFFICKING
2024 THEME: ” THE EVIDENCE IS CLEAR: INVEST IN PREVENTION “
One-Day Awareness Programme at St. Philomena’s College Marks International Day Against Drug Abuse
Mysuru, June 26: St. Philomena’s College, Bannimantap, hosted a one-day awareness programme at Indoor Stadium on the day of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking. The event witnessed participation from students and faculties, aiming to educate and raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
M.Muthuraj, IPS, DCP(law and order) Mysuru city graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The programme featured a skit performed by the students of St. Philomena’s College, which illustrated the harmful effects of drug abuse on individuals and society. The skit was well-received and emphasized the pervasive impact of drug addiction.
Dr. Ravi J D Saldhana, Principal of St. Philomena’s College filled the Presidential honour.
A highlight of the event was the pledge taken by all participants, administered by M. Muthuraj, IPS, DCP( law & order) Mysuru division to contribute towards a drug-free community
Mrs. Shirley Anthony, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work was the host for the day. The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Deepa V, Assistant Professor, Department of BBA. Ms. Suhan Pooviah, Assistant Professor, Department of English, highlighted the Significance of the International day against the drug abuse. Dr. B. Shyla, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, expressed gratitude to the gathering in her vote of thanks.
Adding to the day’s activities, postgraduate students from St. Philomena’s College conducted an awareness rally, further spreading the message of the dangers of drug abuse and advocating for a drug-free community.
The programme was attended by Rev Dr.Lourdu Prasad Joseph, Rector, Rev Fr. Gnana Pragasam, Administrator, Fr. David Sagay Raj, Assistant to the Rector, Dr. Ravi J.D Saldhana, Principal of St. Philomena’s College, Thomas A. Gunaseelan, IQAC coordinator, Mr. Nagaraj Urs and Mr Prakash Cutinah Vice Principals, Dr. Noor Mubasheer C A, PG Coordinator PG, and other members of the college, reflecting the strong support and involvement .
