
Placement Preparation Programme

Introduction
The Department of MBA, St. Philomena’s College organized a Three-Day Career Readiness and Placement Preparation Program in association with Magic Bus Foundation from 12th May 2026 to 14th May 2026 at the MBA & MCA Conference Hall for MBA students. The primary objective of the program was to equip students with essential employability skills, professional communication abilities, interview techniques, resume-building knowledge, and workplace etiquette required for career success.
The sessions were conducted by Ms. Aditya K. Vinod and Ms. Famidha Sherin from Magic Bus Foundation. The trainers adopted an interactive and activity-oriented approach throughout the workshop, which enabled students to actively participate and gain practical exposure to professional skills.
The inaugural session was graced by respected faculty members including Dr. Issac George, Head of the Department of MBA, Dr. Sadiya Tabassum, Dr. Divyashree N, Dr. Shilpa NC, and Dr. Emillee Surekha from the MBA Department. The dignitaries emphasized the importance of career readiness, communication skills, and professional development in today’s competitive employment environment.
Magic Bus Foundation, known for empowering youth through skill development and employability initiatives, also collaborates with platforms like Connect With Work (CWW) to support students in career guidance and employment opportunities.
Day 1 – Introduction to Magic Bus and Communication Skills
The first day of the program commenced with an introduction to Magic Bus Foundation, its mission, vision, and initiatives aimed at empowering young individuals through skill development and career readiness programs. Students were also introduced to the organization’s collaboration with Connect With Work (CWW), which supports students in improving employability and accessing career opportunities.
The trainers then conducted detailed sessions on Verbal and Non-Verbal Communication Skills. Students were made aware of the importance of effective communication in professional environments and how communication plays a significant role in leadership, teamwork, confidence building, and career growth.
The session focused on three major communication styles — Assertive Communication, Passive Communication, and Aggressive Communication. Through practical examples, group discussions, role-play activities, and interactive exercises, students understood the importance of assertive communication in maintaining professionalism and healthy workplace relationships.
The trainers also explained the importance of non-verbal communication, including body language, eye contact, facial expressions, gestures, posture, and tone of voice. Several activities were conducted to help students identify and improve their communication patterns. The sessions were highly engaging and encouraged active participation from students, making the learning process enjoyable and effective.


Day 2 – Resume Building and Interview Preparation
The second day of the workshop concentrated on Resume Building and Interview Preparation Skills. The trainers explained the purpose and significance of a resume in the recruitment process and highlighted how a well-structured resume creates a positive first impression on recruiters.
Students were introduced to various types of resumes, including Chronological Resume, Functional or Skill-Based Resume, and Combination Resume. Detailed guidance was provided regarding resume structure, formatting, and content organization. The trainers explained the importance of including essential sections such as contact details, careerobjectives, educational qualifications, work experience, skills, achievements, and additional resume components in a professional manner.
The session also emphasized maintaining clarity, neatness, proper formatting, and professionalism while preparing resumes. Students were guided on how to customize resumes according to job requirements and present their strengths effectively.
An Interactive self-assessment activity was conducted during the session, where students reflected on their strengths, weaknesses, achievements, skills, career aspirations, and personal goals. This activity encouraged self-awareness, confidence, and clarity regarding future career planning.
The afternoon session focused on Interview Preparation and Self-Presentation Skills. The trainers discussed various stages of the interview process, including preparation before the interview, behavior during the interview and professional follow-up after the interview.
Students learned techniques for answering common interview questions, introducing themselves confidently, maintaining professional body language, and handling interview pressure effectively. Mock interview activities and group discussions were conducted to improve students’ communication abilities, confidence, and presentation skills. The practical approach adopted by the trainers made the sessions highly informative and beneficial.


Day 3 – Professional Etiquettes and Personality Development
The third and final day of the program focused on Professional Etiquettes, Workplace Behavior, and Personality Development. The trainers highlighted the importance of professionalism, etiquette, and personal presentation in achieving career success and creating a positive impression in professional environments.
The session covered various aspects of professional etiquette, including dining etiquettes, conference and meeting etiquettes, workplace behavior, professional dressing, grooming standards, communication etiquettes, and presentation skills. Students were guided on appropriate behavior in formal settings such as interviews, meetings, conferences, and workplaces.
The trainers demonstrated professional dressing styles, dining manners, and formal interaction techniques to help students understand expected workplace standards. Several practical demonstrations, role plays, and interactive activities were conducted during the session, which made the learning process engaging and easy to understand.
The sessions also emphasized personality development, confidence building, professionalism, and maintaining positive workplace relationships. Students actively participated in the activities
and gained practical insights into professional behavior and corporate culture. The third day concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation students and valuable learning experiences


that would help them in their future careers.

The Three-Day Career Readiness and Placement Preparation Program organized by the Department of MBA, St. Philomena’s College in association with Magic Bus Foundation was highly informative, interactive, and beneficial for MBA students.
The workshop successfully enhanced students’ communication skills, resume-writing abilities, interview preparation techniques, professional etiquette, and overall confidence.
