Platinum Jubilee Annual Sports Report 2021 – 2022

All set for the Platinum Jubilee Annual Athletic Meet to begin by 08.30 am on 21^st July 2022.

The Platinum Jubilee Annual Athletic Meet held on 21^st July 2022 with great pomp and grandeur. Ms. Dhanusha M.R, was the Chief Guest for the day. She is International Athlete, who has participated in state, national & International Level Athletics and won many places & positions.

The Annual Athletic Day began with the Welcome of the Chief Guest and the dignitaries by the NCC Cadets with St. Mathias School Band ready for the day.

The arrival and welcome of the esteemed guests gave a kick start to the colourful and bright mega event of the Annual Athletic meet 2022.

The Platinum Jubilee Athletic Meet with invoking God’s blessings on the day through an Invocation song by Mr. Joel and team followed by the Flag Hoisting which gave a beautiful mould to the day.

The Annual Report was read by Ms. Peria Nayagammal, The Physical Director, St. Philomena’s Degree College, and a copy of the same was presented to Rev. Dr. Bernard Prakash Barnis, Rector, St. Philomena’s Educational Institution and Dr. Ravi J. D. Saldanha, Principal, St. Philomena’s Degree College.

The events in sequence began with the display of the March Past and the arrival of the Olympic Torch headed by Kishore K and team.

The March Past team consisted of 27 teams according to I, II, III Year UG & students of Post Graduate Studies respectively. The teams had their own sports attire that added to the brightness of the day, it looked too colourful and added extra energy to the following events. The teams were judged by three Physical Directors from other colleges, who graded the teams.

The First Place was bagged by the Post Graduation Students of M.Sc Physics.

 

The Second Place was bagged by III B.Sc, Under Graduate

Students

The Third Place was bagged by the BCA, Under Graduate Students of III Year.

 The Oath taking administered by Rev. Dr. Bernard Prakash Barnis, Rector, St. Philomena’s Educational Institutions, was received by Kishore K and the Leaders of the March Past teams. It indeed flavoured to the sportive partaking of the Events by the Students.

    The formal programme came to an end with the National Anthem. The Events began in a swing without much delay. The order of the Events was as follows:

There were around 450 participants on the whole who took part in all the events. Each participant had to take part in only three Events, except Relay. The students eagerly took part in all the activities of the day with much zeal and vitality. 

The Felicitation of Ms. Dhanusha M. R the Chief Guest for the day, the International Athlete.  

Kishore K, the Under Graduate Student, was also felicitated who participated in the All India Level in 177 Open Sight Shooting Competition (Men Team) held at Hubballi and won the II place.

Both the Athletes were felicitated by the esteemed guests present for the Event.

The students who participated in the Inter-Collegiate Tournaments were felicitated. The list is as follows:

Three Students from St. Philomena’s Institution represented South Zone Inter University Football Tournament 2021-22, from 5 January, 2022 to 9 January 2022 held at, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala.

Our College Students secured III Place in the,  Basketball Tournament (MEN) 2021-22, at Mysore University, Inter-Collegiate Chamundi Zone held at St. Joseph’s College, Jayalakshmipuram.

 

Our Students secured III Place in the, Table Tennis Tournament (MEN) 2021-22 at Mysore University, Inter- Collegiate Chamundi Zone held at Hindustan College, J. P. Nagar.

Our College team secured runner up in the Cresta Futsal Tournament at Cresta First Grade College, Mysore.

The Overall Individual Men Championship was awarded to Dheemanth H. R, B.Sc II yr student.

The Overall Individual Women Championship was awarded to Nisha Jacob of M.Sc Mathematics, I yr student.

A moment of pride as well as joy to the students as well as the Institution for the wonderful players that it has formed, who are sportive and garnished to participate and win the First place in maximum Events.
