
Report on the Industrial Visit to Hollingsworth & Vose, Kadakola, Mysuru

The Department of PG Studies and Research in Social Work organized an industrial visit to Hollingsworth & Vose (H&V), Kadakola, Mysuru, on 24thSeptember 2025 for the final year MSW students. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to human resource practices within an industrial setting.
The visit began with a guided plant tour led by Mr. Santhosh, Assistant HR, and Ms. Divya, Assistant HR, who introduced the students to the company’s operations, infrastructure, and workforce management practices. The students gained a valuable understanding of how the HR department functions in coordination with production and other departments on the shop floor.
Following the plant tour, the students attended an interactive session conducted by Mr. Sunil Salagare, Head – Human Resources at H&V. He delivered an insightful presentation covering key topics such as Global HR Practices, the importance of training and development, various methods of performance appraisal, and the statutory and non-statutory benefits offered by the organization. Mr. Salagare also shared his extensive work experiences through case studies, highlighting how HR professionals can make informed and ethical decisions in complex workplace situations.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, where students actively participated by raising questions related to HR policies and practices, gaining further clarity and real-world perspectives.
The students were accompanied by faculty members Dr. Robin K J and Ms. Nandana P, who coordinated the visit and ensured the smooth conduct of the day’s events.
The industrial visit was a highly enriching and educative experience, effectively bridging the gap between academic learning and practical application. It offered students a deeper insight into HR functioning within a global manufacturing organization, preparing them for future professional roles.
