INAUGURATION OF CULTURAL EVENTS 2018-19

Cultural events for 2018-19  were inaugurated at St Philomena’s College on 27^th July 2018  at 2:30 pm. The program started with unveiling the mascot(Philos Maharaja) by the Rector Rev. Dr. Bernard Prakash Barnis, followed by the procession which included different traditional art forms of Karnataka like Veerabhadra, Gaadigombe, Kamsale, KeeluKudure, Kadbudaya, Nagaari, Huli vesha. All the dignitaries followed the procession in an open jeep.

Cultural events were officially inaugurated by unleashing balloons in front of the Indoor Stadium by Rector Rev. Dr. Bernard Prakash Barnis , Dr. T. Ruth Shantha Kumari, Principal and Mr Harish N, the chief guest for the day.

The Program started with  invoking blessings of God through a prayer song led by Rev. Fr. Rony Ravi Kumar and team. Later all the Dignitaries lighted the Lamp.

Chief guest Mr. N Harish who is a theater artist and an educationist addressed the gathering. He said that, there is need of entertainment in this mechanized life. Dramatics and other cultural events are  not just  art, but also  can be therapy. Drama and art make human relationship stronger. He suggested students to convert text to a texture and added that we can contribute to the society in the form of art. Then Dr T Ruth Shantha Kumari conveyed the gist of Mr. N. Harish’s speech for the advantage of non- kannadiga students.

This was followed by Cultural events which included band , rap and dance forms of different states and countries which represented unity in diversity fondly referred to as PHILOS EXPRESS.

Sanjay Nair , PG Director, Mr. Othbert Pinto, Assistant director and convenor of cultural events, Rev. Fr. Rony Ravi Kumar,  warden of boys hostel, Rev. Fr. Anthony Raj, Controller of examination Dr. Alphons D’souza, cultural committee members, teaching & non teaching staff and students witnessed this colorful event.
