Report on Awareness on Education

An awareness session on the importance of education was conducted on 19th April 2026 at Don Bosco Vidyakshetra, Prakashpalya, Chikkaluru Gram Panchayat, Kollegala Taluk, as part of the Rural Study Camp organized by St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous), Mysuru, Department of PG Studies and Research in Social Work.The session was led by Fr. Jhon Fernandis, a first-year MSW student, and Dr. Robin K. J., both of whom served as resource persons for the program.The primary objective of the session was to emphasize the value of education in shaping a secure and meaningful future. The speakers highlighted how education not only enhances knowledge but also opens up diverse opportunities for personal and professional growth. Special focus was given to guiding students on the various avenues available after SSLC and PUC, helping them understand different academic streams, vocational options, and career pathways they could pursue based on their interests and abilities.An important segment of the session addressed effective study habits. The resource persons provided practical guidance on how to create and follow a structured timetable at home, stressing the importance of consistency, time management, and disciplined study routines. Students were encouraged to set achievable goals and maintain a balanced schedule that accommodates both academics and personal well-being.The session also shed light on the constructive use of social media for academic purposes. The speakers demonstrated how digital platforms can be used to access educational content, enhance learning, and stay updated with academic resources, while also cautioning against excessive or unproductive usage.
The trainees actively engaged with the children through interactive discussions, questions, and activities, making the session lively and impactful. Their involvement helped create a comfortable environment where students felt encouraged to express their doubts and aspirations.
Overall, the session was informative, engaging, and meaningful. It successfully motivated the students to take their education seriously, make informed decisions about their future, and adopt better study practices. The program was well-received by the participants and served as a valuable component of the Rural Study Camp.
