“What’s Next? The Path Finder…” Career Guidance and Awareness of Competitive Examination Report
Aim of the Programme:
- To educate the students about the career opportunity
- To solve their confusion regarding what is after their graduation.
- To impart knowledge about different types of competitive exams.
Mr Mohammed Rafi Pasha, Mr Ragunandan, Mr kanaka. D. Anand, Ms Kavya, Ms. Vidhya, Ms. Saraswati Hegde and Mr. Ganapati Hegde were the speakers who elegantly joined us for the “Career Guidance and awareness about competitive exams Programme,” sharing their knowledge.
Inauguration Program:
The programme started with invocation song by Philo’s music group. The administrator Rev. Fr John Paul, Dr Alphonsus D’Souza, Principal, Mr Vidhyadhar Sanjay Nair, Vice Principal, Mr. Ronald Prakash Cutinha, IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Poornima Umesh, co-ordinator and competitive examination committee graced the inaugural session. Around 400 participants from UG and PG attended the programme. The principal Dr Alphonsus D’Souza gave the Presidential address in which he enlightened the role of a teacher and the opportunities of students. He highlighted the importance of hard work which makes a person successful and emphasized the importance of coaching which is needed to build one’s Career.
Session 1: Navodaya Institute Representative- Ms Vidya
Ms Vidhya from Navodaya, explained the difference between career and job. She stressed on the career planning and mentioned all the options which the students of all the streams can have after their graduation. Her main point of her talk was about the working and planning strategies of Navodaya; the way they approach the students in Navodaya. She mentioned that there they have mentors for counselling the students to know their field of interest, their skills and they have got some classes for helping the students to improve their memory power. She stressed on the mock test which they conduct every week. She talked about the teaching methodology which they have there. She mentioned the individual guidance which they provide to crack the exams (UPSC).
Session 2: Mr Mohammed Rafi Pasha, Assistant Commissioner/ GST Govt of Karnataka
He spoke on the importance of civil service exams. By his talk he motivated the students to make use of the opportunity which they have got now to make good career and to achieve their passions. He mentioned the posts which they get if they crack the civil service exams. He highlighted the value of hard work which the students have to put to achieve their passions.
Session 3: Topper’s Talk: The Interactive Session
Toppers, such as Raghunandan, Kanaka D Anand and Kavya enlightened this session with their experiences. They started with the process to proceed in this field and the importance of current affairs in cracking the UPSC exam. They cleared the doubt of the students who had some questions like “what to read in a newspaper?’’, and about the optional subjects and syllabus. The toppers shared their inspiring experience in cracking the exams, one should have the commitment, dedication, proper guidance and focus to reach the goal, with all these anyone could get a great career, with this Navodaya Institute session was concluded.
Session 4: TIMES Interaction Section
Ms Saraswati Hegde and Mr. Ganapati Hegde from TIME Academy Mysuru gave their talk by sharing their life experiences and provided some tricks to answer the questions, they advised the students to think out of box.
They stressed on the exams such as CAT/PG CET/MAT, CMAT and the things the students can do after clearing the CAT and the opportunity which they get once they clear these examinations.
Outcome of the Programme:
As the students are unaware of the opportunities and the career which they have after they complete their graduation, there was a need of organising this programme in order to enlighten them about a particular career and the path through which they can acquire their passions. Thinking all these aspects The Competitive Exam Committee organised this orientation programme. The participants were benefited from sessions which enlightened them of the significance of all competitive exams. All the participants got E-certificate.
